The shampoo and container for q-tips/cotton balls were completely molded. The shower has a distinct chlorine smell that would grow when showering. I paid for a deluxe king room only to end up with a king bed in a room that you could barely walk in to. They charged me double for the first night then put two holds on my card; one for the total stay and one for the $50 deposit. The only charge discussed was the $50 deposit (a common hotel thing), but when i asked about the other charges multiple receptionists gave me run arounds about “getting it back when my stay is over”. The pillows are stained and flat, room service refuses to give new ones. Our lamp and fridge were out of commission. All of this for a 5 night stay. The only perk is the valet, they were nice about it whenever my fiancé came to ask for his car and he loved the conversations with them. And location is nice too, be careful walking though ladies, there are a few hills.

Super helpful staff that bailed my sister out in a moment of need. Person working the front desk internalized that we needed just 1 room that night (even though it was already 11pm) and likely a late checkout time. They found us something quickly, took care of everything over the phone and didn’t try to upswell us at all.

Overall: The Normandy Hotel is functional/utilitarian. It’s quite spare: white walls (no artwork), drab carpet, very small rooms with two small windows. The highlight was the bathroom (seems like they poured a lot of money into it) and the location. The Good: the bathroom. If only the rest of the hotel was as update as the bathroom then this would be a five star review. The Bad: if you expect daily room cleaning, then you’re in the wrong hotel. Not only do they not clean your room daily, but it’s a nice surprise that awaits you when you get back to your room late at night. Did they forget? NO. The not-so charming folks at the front desk explained to us that isn’t their policy to provide that for guests (BTW, this important gem of info isn’t listed anywhere on the website, nor were we told this upon arrival at The Normandy). The website should’ve been our first clue that this wasn’t for us: most of the photos are of the lobby (not the rooms); and by “intimate” they mean small; and (my favorite aspect of the website) their BEST review comes from February of 2017 (2017!). All the clues where there, but we thought we scored some magic deal. And don’t expect to workout, just don’t. Good luck Folks.

We've stayed at the Normandy a few times, starting a bunch of years ago because they are pet friendly (and back when you could get a room under $150). We stayed here for a long weekend, and I kept wondering what I was paying $200+ for a night. The hotel, while comfortable, is dark and frayed around the edges. Due to COVID measures, they don't service the rooms (which hasn't been the case with other hotels and they don't tell you at check in), and they no longer serve breakfast. The lamp and refrigerator in our room were broken. We brought our dog, and were charged a $25 per night pet fee. This is totally understandable when housekeeping is servicing the rooms, but I couldn't wrap my head around what the fee was for. Look, it's not terrible, but know you're paying for location.

Did not have to use the parking there. There is street parking but it is iffy with DC parking rules
You can go on the website and get the property manager's contact info or see if the shift manager has a supervisor. This information should all be on their website under "contact us."
Couldn't agree more. Badly maintained and staff doesn't seem to care
Service is good. They are in the middle of every thing.
Not really, it's close to DuPont Circle and not far from the National zoo
