The Sarasota Modern, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Hotel is adorable. Lovely modern decor. Check in was very easy and fast. The pools are awesome. They have 3. One is freezing, one’s perfect temp and the other is a hot tub. The cabanas are nice as well as the outdoor seating area. The bar staff was very friendly. Our room was great. Awesome view, the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Probably the most comfortable bed I slept in in a hotel in a very long time Marisa was fabulous and so helpful and accommodating. Also the valet staff is awesome. They are so kind and helpful. She made our stay perfect. We will definitely be coming here when we return to Sarasota.

My wife and I stayed here on a work trip and it was perfect! Our business price of $170/night for this hotel was unbeatable for the Sarasota area. Beautiful, elegant modern style and very good use of space with the pool area. For a smaller hotel they made perfect use of space to make it feel grand. The room was very clean and had a very comfortable bed. The balcony overlooking the pool was great. I loved that the pool had so many waterfalls which help drown out noise from any other guests and makes the atmosphere very romantic and relaxing.

We just completed a four night stay to celebrate the birthdays of my two children. While I’m leaving a 5 star review, my children wanted to leave 6. I’ll start with the rooms- they were spacious enough for the children to hop around a bit. Beds were comfortable and the balcony had a great view of the pool area. The shower was large and the water pressure was A+. The pool area was gorgeous and had games to play and plenty of seating. The gym was also amazing- plenty of free weights, Peloton bikes (woohoo!) and great treadmills with good flex decks. The outdoor bikes were unavailable due to a storm, but the front desk made sure to share other options in the area, which they took care of for my bike loving newly 11 year old son. The staff was friendly, helpful and seemed willing to help make our stay great at every turn. We had a small issue, which the staff also went out of their way to fix for us. Thanks for starting my kiddos’ birthday vacation off with a bang! They are already talking about getting back to Sarasota to stay at the Modern.

Hotel is aesthetically pleasing. Check-in, front desk, engineering, pool bar and bartender were excellent. However, valet is the first impression and should smile and be welcoming. The menus could be more exciting-lunch and dinner were almost identical. Be prepared for no room service in advance. Nice perks of complimentary breakfast, and a drink for Marriott Bonvoy (certain levels). While I liked engineering, I didn’t like damp sheets in the room. However, I did appreciate them resolving the issue because housekeeping was gone for the day. I am intentionally being detailed because this property can easily improve from 3 stars with the right talent and care.
