The beach was beautiful. A little cold but that's what I would expect for this time of year. Very few people there just beautiful beaches.

I stepped on a used injection needle. I'm lucky it didn't go through my shoe. Lots of trash and junkies. Don't go there.

Questions & Answers

How do you access Copalis National Refuge? Is there a fee?

You cannot access the Refuge. The Copalis NWR is part of the larger "Washington Islands National Wildlife Refuge," and all the islands of the Refuge were designated as wilderness by congress in 1980. To protect endangered wildlife, the wilderness is closed to human visitation and all surrounding waters within 200 yards are closed to watercraft.

can we camp on the beach here?

People often camp on the beach at Roosevelt Beach. No water or amenities other than an outhouse at the road access. It is at the southern edge of the refuge.
