Our visit to Turnbull was mostly to find an easy, serene place to walk around. The beautiful natural scenery added to it, of course. Wonderfully colorful flora and fauna, small animals (ducks, chipmunks) and beautiful dragon flies flitting around. I'd recommend this place if you want to clear your head and get a bit of sun. I'm more of an observer, but if you like photography or just taking a few snaps on your phone, I'm sure it would be a great time. It wasn't too crowded with people, in fact we only saw a couple of people overall on our entire hour long walk.

This was one of the best hiking spots I've seen. I used to live back in California where you would have to pay to find something half this good and it's always so crowded in California but here I didn't ruin into anybody and the park is so big. I actually got to see wildlife like a porkupine which I've never seen before and tons of different colored birds. I go here every weekend and never get bored.

Beautiful! Saw an Elk family and a turkey family. The road is a lot of gravel but well kept. I went on a few trails and all were easy to walk along.

What an great outdoor experience. We rode 16 miles from Fish Lake to Amber Lake and then back again, which goes through the heart of the Turnbull. It's a lovely, virtually flat old rail trail. Along the way we saw: osprey, turkeys, quail, deer, coyote, marmot, and many other waterfowl and shorebird (I just don't know my birds very well). The weather was lovely. The trail is well marked, and virtually, once you get off the paved section, there's nobody out there, on a Saturday, even.

You should be able to snowshoe here, when there is snow. This is not a high snow area. There are lots of open flat spaces and the trails are well maintained.
Day use only but there is camping on Williams lake about five miles down the road
If you have a NPS pass, it is free. If not, $3 post vehicle.

Discovery pass is only good for Washington State Parks. Turnbull is a National Park and doesn't recognize the Discover Pass. According to Turnbull's website you'll need a Senior Pass, The Senior and Access passes are good for the lifetime of the holder and make available (to the pass holder only) 50 percent discounts on some expanded amenity fees. You can purchase a Senior or any other pass from the Ranger Station at the end of the straight path after entering Turnbull Refuge. The price of the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Senior Pass, a lifetime entry pass for citizens age 62 and older, increased from $10 to $80 on Aug. 28, 2017. The passes for entry to Turnbull are as follows, U.S. Fish &Wildlife Service - Annual Pass valid at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge, Military Annual Pass, Annual Pass, Access Pass, Senior Pass or a Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp. This year Turnbull initiated the "Duck the Fee Station" program where annual and lifetime
