This is a 3.4 mile hike to a waterfall. It is at elevation and scrambles over rocks and is hot in the summer. The river has a variety of places next to the trail where one could explore. We walked at a steady pace and it took 75-90 minutes out and 45 minutes back. Logistics: park in the campground parking lot, which had space at 11 am and had no spots available upon our return. Use the modern toilets at the parking lot before departing, and you can utilize the water bottle fill station, if needed. Note: no dogs are allowed (we counted three on the trail). I think this hike may be challenging for very small children and those individuals who are unsteady or fairly out of shape. It was a fun excursion. Visit the gift shop on the way back to the main road, if you do desire. Enjoy!

I took this trail for my first time ever hiking. There are a lot of scenic spots throughout the hike to rest, eat real quick, or stop to take photos. Definitely worth taking the hike to the top.

Fantastic hike. The falls are pretty dry right now, but there are small ones that you can hike right next to on the way up. Active bear area!

Who doesn't want to see a frozen waterfall? Hiking this trail the day after a blizzard required snowshoes, but it was worth it. Took 3.5 hours for a roundtrip visit with my teenager, and we both felt great afterwards. Winding trail is an easy one with only 500 feet of elevation change.

Questions & Answers

I'm guessing this is inside sequoia national park, and you would have to pay for entrance at the pay booth correct? I must know! Lol.

You pay to enter the park, yes. You can get an anual pass. If you're planning on visiting more than once I'd recommend that option.

Also FYI, at this time of year apparently, the falls were nonexistent (just did the hike the last week of July)

Not sure, was my first time there but the morning I did see some. Black bear and deer so guess that would be a good time of day
