Yes, we will be open on 12/26/21 from 10am to 5pm. For further information, please visit our website https://virginiahistory.org/visit
Its actually technically free for everyone, the $10 fee is only recommended.
Yes it is easy for a handicap person to navigate. There is a lot of walking depending on what festivities you're doing, so using crutches can be a bit much. I recommend taking frequent breaks if you're deciding to use crutches.
Hi, Jim! Great question! I believe the flag you are referring to is the original flag, but to double check you might want to fill out our online Ask a Question form. This form is sent to our research librarians and collections team. They will be able to help you determine if the flag one display is the one that was donated by Emily Preston and they should also be able to help you with a photo of the flag!
No I do not, but there records that you can look up at the Museum, there's a curator who will be able to assist you in your search
There is a a fee of $10 for adults, $8 for seniors/military/veterans, $5 for children over the age of 5. Parking is $5 for 4 hours & $1 for each additional hour after that. First 30 are free. It is a private, not for profit museum, no govt funding
Victoria - With the reopening of our newly renovated museum, admission is no longer suggested. Rates are $10 for adults, $8 for Seniors, Active Military and Veterans, $5 for Youth ages 6-17. VMHC members get in free. I apologize if the Google listing still has suggested admission language. We will update that immediately. Also, to ensure everyone has access to a quality museum learning experience, we participate in a national program called Museums for All to offer free admission for low-income families. Guests who present their SNAP or WIC Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Card at the Guest Services desk receive free admission. I hope this information is helpful!
The museum is not open on Christmas Day
Actually I DON'T
Hi, Michelle! Great question! The best place to start would be by filling out our online Ask a Question form. This form is sent to our research librarians and collections team. They will be able to help you determine if we have anything in our collection related to your family or be able to point you in another direction for research. The web url is VirginiaHistory.org/AskAQuestion. Good luck with your research!
