I hired R&G Almanza to do a spring cleaning and some small landscape work in 2022. I paid the deposit promptly and paid the balance immediately upon completion. I have time stamped VENMO's evidence. I was very happy with the work I agreed to use his weekly lawn cutting service as a result. Week 1, he came late and only after I called. Week 2, he didn't show up. I called, left voice mails and NEVER heard back. Just radio silence. I understand if he made the mistake in taking the job and then discovered he was overbooked. But...to not let me know what the heck is going on was unprofessional and wreaks of unreliability. He didn't have have the dignity to even apologize.

We redid our entire backyard. It was a mess with an old chain link fence with trees grown into it, poor drainage, dead grass, and buckthorn trees everywhere. The cleaned out the entire yard, graded it, put down sod, drainage, and landscaping and a new fence. It looks amazing!! They are very professional and the owners were always checking on the project through out every step and checking in with me.

In summer 2021, we used Raul’s team from R&G Almanza Landscape, Inc. to create a new paver patio and re-sod part of our backyard. They also filled in pavers on our existing patio and dug a trench for new electrical lines. They did a beautiful job! In spring 2022, R&G Almanza built us a gorgeous, cedar fence (slat by slat). Raul was very professional and easy to work with. The work is impeccable. We will use them for all future work in our yard. 5 stars!!

I have hired Raul Almanza twice for my hardscaping jobs. Two years ago, he redid the area below my deck where water had been collecting. He placed in Hollandstone pavers at the perfect slope to send the water away from my home without collecting in puddles. I rehired him this spring to redo my front walkway. He recommended a drain to further ensure that there would be no puddles. See the before and after pics below. Raul is very professional and responsive (answers texts promptly). His crew was very hard working. And the price was very fair.

What Is Hardscaping?

R & G Almanza Landscape Inc | Jul 6, 2022

A hardscape is the man-made portion of your landscape that uses hard, non-living materials. It serves to provide definition, organization and extended functionality to the exterior area around a residential, commercial or public property. Some examples are decorative structures such as statues, fountains and statues and practical structures such as fences, seating areas and benches. Ideally, the practical and decorative purposes are combined to get exquisite results for elements such as patios, outdoor kitchens and arbors.

What Is Mulching?

R & G Almanza Landscape Inc | Jul 6, 2022

Mulching is applying an additional layer on your soil. This layer is placed around bare ground and plants. This barrier can be made using decomposing organic materials such as bark, leaves, grass clipping, plant material, and wood chippings. It can also be made using inorganic matter such as rubber mats, chips, pebbles, gravel mulch and crushed rock. Organic costs less than synthetic mulches and fertilizes the soil. That means it also deteriorates and therefore needs to be replaced occasionally. Inorganic mulches will provide soil protection and plant preservation for your garden. They, however, do not break down and enrich your soil.

What Is The Difference Between Landscaping & Hardscaping?

R & G Almanza Landscape Inc | Jul 6, 2022

Landscaping is the practice of enhancing the outdoor area surrounding a residential or commercial property or around a public space. There are two major components of landscaping – hardscaping and softscaping. Hardscaping It refers to all the heavy, non-living materials installed in a landscape. Some examples are water fountains, patios, benches, firepits, fences and the list goes on. Softscaping It is the nurturing practice of installing and caring for grass, plants, trees, flowers and the soil around them. So, if you need to install a patio or a retaining wall, that would be hardscaping. Sod installation and soil aeration are softscaping jobs, although they are usually referred to as simply landscaping. Usually, hardscaping requires more work and resources than landscaping, but it also depends on the type of work done and on how big the surface serviced is.

What Is Landscape Edging?

Landscape edging is creating an area around different landscaping features such as garden beds or flower gardens meant to define and delimit those areas. It can have both an aesthetic and a practical use, such as keeping the mulch in place or defining an area as not meant for walking on it. Landscape edging materials range from brick and stone to concrete and wood and it can give your property an absolutely stunning look.

How can you use trees and plants to increase the privacy of your yard?

A great landscape design plan that ensures your privacy as a priority will shield you not only from unwelcome stares, but can also protect your valuables and property by keeping them hidden from view. Landscaping for privacy is one of the most requested garden services. We can use a mix of plants, trees, fences and privacy screens to create an environment that keeps your garden private. The best plant species and landscape elements to use for privacy purposes vary based on the local regulations, the available space and area they need to cover. Some of the most popular privacy plants are Arbovitae, Cyprus, Fir, Holly, Laurel.
