I think it's a nice, efficient facility. Tacoma's rates are okay for residential debris. Full price for commercial.

This place is a dump ! Couldn't resist... Cheaper then the one on Meridian. Yard waste is free. **please note that this dump is for Tacoma residents who pay for trash collection only. Be prepared to provide proof via your TPU bill for trash collection service and a driver's license**

This place is stinky... especially when you get into the garbage transfer station. Everyone is friendly and helpful so makes it easy to unload.

This facility is equipped to allow people to dispose of several different types of garbage. They recycle glass and cardboard, but people can also dispose of other types of garbage. Not sure about furniture or TV's bit anything else provided it's not hazardous etc, is allowed. The process is very easy for a first time user, the staff appear willing to help out someone who is new to the process. Best of all the cost is not that bad for city 😉 Tacoma residents it's $20 for 40 lbs (they ask for ID) it's not the most run place I've ever been to but it is a dump after all. But appears efficiently run and not as as I was expecting.

Probably not if it's diseased cattle you have to go to a registered disposal site. If not you could risk fines.
For most paint buckets/can, you just leave the lids off to let the paint dry and then dispose of them like any other household garbage.
Depends on the origination point - inside Tacoma or outside of the City.
Yes. Most municipalities will reimburse though. Check with your collection service.
Yes, they have "tree-cycling". There is a bin near the recycling area where you can drop off your tree 🌲
Depending upon whether you are a tacoma resident or not. I believe its a $20 furniture fee
Yes they do.
Algona, perhaps.
Nope, it's a city run facility. A few years ago several people were fired for "discounts". They have little humor and no wiggle room.
At this time they are not taking styrofoam at the recycle center and you CANNOT put the peanuts in your recycle bin. I believe they will take them at a UPS Store.
I believe you can call it yard waste and they'll be fine with it. There is a weight limit--and they do weigh you going in--of 450 lbs for $20. I had nowhere near that, so double check if you have a large load
I'd take that to Puget Sound Recycling and maybe get some money for that scrap. I think it may be just be garbage if you to take it here. Didn't see an area for scrap metal when I was there a few moments ago.
As long as you are a Tacoma resident you may dispose of it for free. They will tell you where it goes.
It costs but yes.
Yes. You can unload by hand.
No
Garbage is garbage they will let you throw all most anything away
They take, check hours open at hazard waste. I believe closed Tues, Weds, Thurs. Check yourself to be sure.
There is a scrap metal bin in the recycling area
Idk depends on the weight but it's $20 I believe 0ta150,but a cooler with the coolant inside is sure ta be more at any dump
For such a request, contact the main office through phone, email, or even physically at their offices.
I am pretty sure they take them at the hazardous area there. Prob a bit of a charge because of the led glass.
Last time I was there it was
Yes. Subject to pandemic restrictions.
No. Drop them off next to the recycling area and the hazardous materials section.
Yes
Is this Doug Turner
May I ask why?
Yes, if electric, battery should be removed. If gas, all liquid should be removed.
It's like $20 for the first 400#
Ironbeaver is correct. But call some of the other landfills to see what their costs might be for the same disposal.
Yes, but costs more I believe there's a company off of puyallup ave that's cheaper
Give Tacoma Refuse a call. They will be right on it by the next pickup date. Great service.
I'd say.....something before I paid.
Call and they send you out a new one
See the schedules of fees in photos. Recycling and yard waste is free at this time. General waste $20 first 400 pounds etc. Tires, appliances etc additional.
Check the fee chart in the photos
Yes but I believe the freon needs to be removed. Might want to call to verify
No charge for City of Tacoma residents. No limit on trips.
Yes, they will take your mattress but it's more expensive for non city residents. An outside recycling company collects all the mattresses processes them.
If you are a city resident it is free.
Yes, city resident rates are lower by weight and for special items like mattresses and tires etc. Minimum fee is the same for residents and non.
yes to prove City residence
Yes.
No we do not take roofing at the recycle center. That material get dumped as garbage, thank you
No, but try recycle center off sales road!
To the landfill
I had the same question. This is what their website says “Sod, dirt, rocks, large stumps, trunks and branches are not accepted as curbside yard waste and should be brought to the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center. Stumps, brush, and tree limbs (whole or chipped) can also be brought to Recovery 1 in Tacoma. (Fees may apply.)”
Yes, just not American express
For Tacoma residents, it is free. For non Tacoma residents it's $7.25 for each 100lbs with a minimum fee of $20. They charge the full $7.25 for each partial 100lbs, so 310lbs would be $29.00 (4 x 7.25).
They do not offer a pickup service, you must bring in your materials yourself. Trash, or curbside service is offered by another company. I think it's WasteManagement in Tacoma.
Charge is per load. Rate depends on origination from in the City (Tacoma) or from outside.
