This Salvation Army turned me away for severe weather shelter simply because a staff member I had never met decided she didn't like me. They have tons of available rooms with more than 2 beds in each, that are all empty. The staff goes through all the donations before they are filtered out to the homeless community. I've tried calling the administration to complain but seems this entire area of the Salvation Army Local Chapter does not intend to seriously help the people they are supposedly catoring too. I think this is horrible to have to report for a national community helper. Sad... .

I stayed at the Salvation Army Shelter I was there for 5 1/2 months and I was brought there by the path team which they are from comprehensive life Resources on 13th and Tacoma Ave. And the partnered up with the Salvation Army during the state of emergency for the homeless in the city of Tacoma I got there on Aug. 9th 2017 And my last day there was Jan.26th when I got housing & into my Apt. The staff there are really nice and helpful and they made me feel like I was a part of a/there family I made a lot of new friends so it was sad and very hard to leave and say good bye! But my new life begins now! I would really like to thank Major Martha & Major Don for being kind and patient with me and I really want major Martha to know how much I truly appreciate how much she has done for me She is a very calm and easy. Person to talk to and she has patients galore! And Judy Flannagan for her patience I love that woman she is so real and funny to! Dru is 1 of the case manager's for the Salvation Army Shelter and that woman is very busy but always smiling! And very helpful & kind! The person who found me staying in my car and talked me into going is the best & coolest, down to earth and has been there& done that plus some I'm sure but he don't put up with any bs either! His name is Orlando with comprehensive life Resources and he outreaches to people to help get them off the streets and safe! Thank you Orlando! The people that took me to the shelter also the path team and work at comprehensive life Resources they are Sandra, Carlos & Byron they took me to the shelter and got me to the person that did My intake and I felt comfortable maybe just a little nervous but turned out fine! 2 days later Thursday August 11th I had to meet my case manager on the path team and she worked with the single woman and couples only! Her name was Amber and she is 1 of the coolest case manager's that I have ever known she talks to us or maybe just a few of us like we are no better then her and she has been there and that is a true case manager that has actually been through or basically similar things as we all have so she is a very understanding person and sympathize's with each individual case or person! She made me feel important and not another number she listened and also gave me good advise and goals to set and go after! I really was sad when she left to go do outreach in the community but she always told me if I ever need anything to just give her a call! I really felt like she was really sincere and cared about what happened! So 5 1/2 months later I am in my own apartment now! So thank you so Much to Major Martha and the Salvation Army Shelter and the path team that stuck with me and brought me there! I miss everyone there and made a lot of new and good friends! Love you all! And also to my newest and best friend Sheryle she is soo awesome and I appreciate her a lot! Love always Kelly Maners hoping to become a Volunteer there soon!

Browneet Caramell Salvation Army, I know this may sound weird , but if all else fails, go to the Police Department, sometimes they have more resources.
