Update 3/7/2022 The two stars are based mostly on the owners raising the rents so much that many people including myself had to move out. Review not based on staff they are all awesome! I was hesitant to post this but I know multiple people and other reviewers who had similar negative experiences. Moved out in January due to over 15% ($400+) rent increase and parking increase. Aware of 3 other neighbors who had extreme rent increases. One of them actually moved then found the unit being offered for less.. Found a place nearby that has just as much space a better view and almost the same amenities for less. You will be paying an extra few hundred dollars per month for amenity access and the owners MO is to increase the rent considerably after your first year. Moving isn't fun but it's worth it if you save thousands. We maybe would have stayed if the rent only increased a hundred or maybe two... However we were unlucky to have extremely loud upstairs neighbors and a neighbor who was in mental distress and would scream up to 14 hours a day (not normal experience). The insulation in the walls is pretty decent but the floor/ceiling insulation is lacking. You will also pay a $120 cleaning fee when moving so make sure to calculate that off your deposit unless you hire professional cleaners. Also I did not think of this till I read another review but the fire alarms are pretty sensitive, but it's a gas range so kind of a wash. If we had our original rate+no awful neighbors we may have stayed because the staff was awesome and the amenities were nice. We ended up not using them as much as we thought and there ended up being some decent sized parties on the roof but we didn't mind them much. So consider living there if you calculate in that your rent and parking may/will increase 15-40% after your first year, you live on the top floor but not under the rooftop or don't mind noise from above, and you care about amenities over price of unit. We tried finding another unit for a more fair price with less noisy neighbors but the pricing for anything larger than one bedroom with any sort of outdoor space was overpriced (compared to already high market rate). There were other issues while we lived there but most of them were resolved by the great staff that they brought in before we left. Here's my initial review: Amazing experience! Beautiful rooftop view, amenities are amazing, gas stove, deep tubs! There are almost no sacrifices when you choose this apartment complex. You definitely can find something for a little bit less money or that has a little bit more space but when you get in this price range this is one of the best if not the best. We looked at ten in lower queen Anne and only one compared and it was further south and much noisier. Jenn is amazing at her job and wonderful to work with, they definitely have a great leasing team. Update 4/23/2021 the only issue we've had so far is that the entrance to the stairwell on the ground floor has been out of service for months but there are other stairwells. Please fix the door to stairwell entrance.

Elan Uptown Flats is a great place to live, with amazing views of Puget Sound and the Space Needle from the rooftop, great amenities and a great maintenance team. We really enjoy living here!

So the property is newly constructed and is in a really great location (close to everything you can hope for) but that's the only plus. Nice amenities, great rooftop but to be honest you won't be able to use them safely now or perhaps anytime soon. I liked staying here in my first year but could not wait for my lease to end during the second. The move out experience only worsened my opinion about Elan and Greystar properties! If your apartment is facing towards the alley, there will be zero to minimal sunlight, your apartment will be completely and closely surrounded with other apartments so you will have no privacy until you keep your blinds closed. A balcony or decent windows would have been good but most apartments do not have it and it gets pretty depressing here specially in WFH situation. You will be lured with great new lease promos but once your first lease expires, your experience will turn around. New apartments are being offered at 50% lower rent + 3 months free + Free Parking! But you will be offered 50% higher than the current market and their own rate (seriously!) for renewing your existing lease and paid parking. So once you are a resident, they will not hesitate to charge you whatever they like - no wonder recently a lot of people moved out! Dogs are allowed here like most other apartments in the area but carpets or common areas are not vacuumed frequently and you will end up bringing "a lot" of dog hairs through your shoes to your home and car. At times the common area couches were so filled with pet hairs, I did not even wanted to sit there at all (No, I am not exaggerating). I have lived in several other apartments in this area where dogs are allowed but never experienced this. Management's behavior during the pandemic wasn't responsible at all. Most other apartments in the area (including the one where I ended up moving) are consistently encouraging residents to wear masks, have posted notices at several places in the building to do so and encouraging only one party at a time to take elevator to minimize the spread but here despite of explicitly requesting the management to do so, they ignored! During the peak of pandemic I did hesitated to even go out because you will always run into some resident either in elevator or common areas who is not wearing a mask or practicing social distance. Finally, regarding the move out expenses, it was a nightmare to follow up with these guys to seek explanation of extraneous charges. I had to send "numerous" emails or make phone calls but gave up in the end - I guess that's what they bank for. I left my apartment darn clean, no damages at all, installed nothing on the walls yet was charged double the paint cost per their own move out estimate and instructions.

I've loved my first two months at Elan Uptown Flats. It starts with the amazing staff -- Kim, Dave, and Kalvin -- who worked hard to ensure a seamless move-in and have really cared for the residents. The location of Elan is also great: right next to public transportation, multiple grocery stores, and great restaurants/bars. And finally the apartment building is wonderful, from the thoughtful furnishings to the modern common areas. Would highly recommend living at Elan Uptown Flats!
