If you want a poster child for how and why the most powerful nation in the world can only provide third world health care to its citizens, spend 15 minutes at Harborview. Let's begin with the miserable, overworked, unfriendly and downright cruel staff. Overworked to the point of both exhaustion and in some cases psychosis, you will be insulted, cajoled, belittled and often ignored when you come to this hospital. You will see lazy employees with dirty hair, poor hygiene wearing their masks below their nose. You will see people hand you things without sanitizing their hands or wearing gloves. You'll find people who work at a COVID testing site not wearing masks and insisting you get closer than 6-feet so they see some barcode on your phone because they are too lazy to do the data entry of a 9-digit code. You will go to a blood draw and get a rookie phlebotomist that leaves bruise on your arm the size of a tennis ball. This is a hospital that doesn't even bother to mop its floors, clean its bathrooms, provide sanitary products like tissues and hand sanitizer and "features" its workers on break cluttered together without masks smoking and blowing their smoke all over the public sidewalk. Heck good luck even finding toilet paper in the stalls or soap in the bathroom sinks. It's a horror show. If you were not sick when you went in, you'll likely be very sick coming out. I've been in college dorm houses with better sanitary conditions. It's like this hospital took the anti-hypocratic oath and intends to the most harm possible to you the moment you walk in. I have been to hospitals in the Bahamas and Mexico that far, far outshine this filthy, overworked, overtired, officious, cruel and dangerous hospital. This institution is an utter disgrace to our fine city.

Clean environment. Came in for a cerebral angiogram, I was pretty scared as this was my first “surgery” type procedure but the staff made the entire process less scary. The staff was super friendly and polite I’m surprised there’s any complaints at all about the staff. I am pretty young for an angiogram so this was completely new to me but I’m thankful on how clear they were about everything and were able to kindly accommodate me when needed.

My experience at this hospital was traumatic medically and exceptional patiently! This review is for the pertained care I received. I was treated with kindness and respect at every encounter and the nurses were particularly kind. In comparison to other hospitals I've entered. My nurse Lena in particular bent over backwards to help me. I would never leave this review without her.

My son passed away 6 months ago today. His son (my grandson) who is 9 received an eye injury he was air lifted back in July. Fast forward 6 months and today my grandson conformer fell out. Two hours of waiting on phone they directed us to ER in Auburn. We wait 5 hours to only be sent to Harbor View. Once there no place to park garage is closed. We walk in the dark up to hospital only to be told at the door only one person can go in. The other has to wait out side. It is fourth five degrees out. Stating someone should have told us. I understand you as a medical hospital are still under COVID precautions but this is absolutely absurd. We were tested and screened and wearing masks. His mom and him have been through so much and need support not to mention what I go through every day. So I sit in my car in the dark in Seattle while all this could have been avoided. Where is your sense of compassion? Shame on you! Shame on how you treat people! I drove them. What about mom’s & dads. To bad only one can be with their child? What about her she has three and if my mom did not watch the other two you would make them wait in the car? Shame on you!

They accuse everybody of wanting drugs which is EXACTLY what they need...People in pain want pain relief DUH. Then again junkies often blame everyone else but themselves so regular folks gotta suffer (regular folks including recovered addicts!) I guess the most important thing is you survived which is always something to be appreciative of! PS: this happened to me at Harborview with much worse treatment. I was left in tthe hallway for 24 hrs while projectile vomiting and being accosted by a naked Vietnam Vet. When I finally saw a Dr passes I begged for help I actually grabbed the doctors hand (gently) and wept for his help I have never seen a pair of colder eyes to this to this day. Never. There was nothing behind those eyes.
Yes, they recently relaxed their visitor policy. Still one visitor per day, but they've extended the visitor hours to 8:00 am to 7:00 pm daily. Sorry you're coming under those conditions..
Yesss
You will be able to stay with him during recovery and when he's moved to a room, you will be able to accompany him but you should consider going home to rest. You'll need your strength as much as he will. The staff is world class, he"ll be in good hands!
Personally haven't been seen often at this location. My experience has been pleasant..
It's good food, salads, hot food, burgers and priced affordable
Yes. Inpatient and outpatient mental health services
Parking varies by the hour is easier just to use valet
I don't think they "serve" any pain meds. I believe they administer per Dr's instruction. But yes they have access to it as they put me on it even though I thought it was too much. Dr felt after 13 surgeries it would best serve me.
Yes I believe you get under the right DR Care & they will assist All needs!!!
Well I am in emergency, my wife was brought in with a compound fracture of her ankle. The ER is full, and people are waiting a day (8+hrs) to be seen. If your husband has an emergent need for surgery, they will get him in to a room, and in line for surgery.
Call and as sw to see if they can help you
Stop smoking weed
I would call and speak to a social worker. I'm sure they could help you
You could consult an attorney about the HIPPA issue but I do NOT believe it is a violation. Additionally, they only keep track of the firearms/weapons brought in by patients and visitors (as THIS is illegal!) Yes, it is illegal to bring a firearm/weapon into a hospital, that is why you are asked to check it! If you don't want anyone knowing you carry, DONT carry it to the Hospital or a Government building. Read up on your local laws pertaining to carrying a firearm and use some common sense!
I dont think they are letting people visit because of covid.
We stayed at the Travel Lodge in North Seattle exit 85 15 minutes to UW and 25 minutes to Harborview
Yes, across the street from the hospital
It may be where the specialist is located and can perform sooner than later.
Sorry I don't have a answer to that question but I'm sure that if you contact the Children's hospital website, they can get some information for you.
Ask to use the shower in his room
Im sure your wife knows who it was. If possible, ask her. Due to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations no one that your wife didn't know previously would have been allowed to visit her. If your wife was to sign a release of information giving consent to her visitor log that information should be available.
A lot propel needs love and competition.
You cannot get information on a friend because of the HIPAA law and it depends on what type of family it is if you can get information the HIPAA law is very stringent and they cannot release any information unless it's your son daughter husband hope that answers your question
No there isn't.
i said my so . is missing. how would i check the jjohnn do s at harborview just gk there
Yes you can call information they'll put you in touch with the right people and you can schedule it
Packages may be returned to sender as well. If it was sent directly to a unit you can call them and ask to come pick it up.
Ask at the information desk they will be able to tell you security would not
I do not believe so. You could call and ask if they know of any but I don't believe the hospital is doing it at this time.
Call the number they'll direct you
Hospital wide quiet hours 9pm - 7am. Each floor has their own rules regarding visitors as well
Yes
Assuming UA means urine analysis, they will if it is medically relevant. They don't always give a UA on admission/assesment.
Ask financial counseling and services, they get back to you faster than billing.
I believe so , you can call they are very friendly, they try to help everyone they can, with a smile,
You have to call the hospital, and if God wants someone speaks Spanish. My dad is here and no one speaks Spanish
It is on the 8th avenue side of the building. When you enter the main lobby from 8th avenue, West hospital will be to your left and West clinic will be to your right.
You can speak with one of the information specialists, they may be able to find an answer with your ID.. then refer you to the appropriate clinic/Dr...All the best
There is a hotel near here. I Don't think there is a Ronald McDonald House.
Yes. It could save the persons life.
Some doctors won't even move forward until the patient quit smoking it's up to the doctor
Depends on the severity of the infection.
Sorry. Patients do not dictate orders. Its not Burger King.
No. This is in Washington State.
They open at 6am. I believe hot line closes at 8 pm. Cafeteria closes around same time I think. They have a bistro that stays open throughout day.
You won't find one in Seattle unless you buy a $200. Tent to live in..even rooms for rent are over $700
i think they have a specialty clinic that can do dental work.
Medical staff decide. They generally want to limit bedside visitors to 1 or 2 for patient care sake.
I have no idea. A Google search would help. A QFC is 15 minutes away via driving. Maybe there?
Go to medical records and request them. You can only do so if yous. To acquire someone elses you need a Power of Attorney.
Yes, unless in ICU
The hospital operator can connect you to the gift shop.
You can call the main hospital and ask. Due to HIPPA very limited info can be given out by phone, if any at all, in which case you would need to contact the person directly that you are looking for or their family
You can call and ask them to mail you the application. But you have to take it in person and sit down and meet with the specialist.
On 8th, South of James street
The hospital cafeteria is located in the southwest corner of the basement level. Take the West Clinic elevators down to B, take a right and do a short zigzag in the corridor. You'll see signs for the cafeteria.
