Came here today for the fish giveaway. What a waste of time. Stood in line for two 1/2 hours to leave without a fish. There were two lines. One for active/uniformed military. The other line for general public/non uniformed military. They serviced the active military line first. By the time that line was almost done. Others had jumped in that line from the other and got fish. Not very fair to those that waited. While I understand it was free... The time wasted on my behalf by trying to follow the rules and participate properly wasn't free. Will just continue to fish the rivers on my own time. Just thought it would've been nice to have an easy day at the river. But between the natives, the hatchery personnel and military personnel... There was a huge communication gap. As a suggestion for the future. Maybe give the active military their own day to retain fish and the general public a day. Especially when posting it on Facebook... Your turn out was way bigger considering you were done passing fish out at 10:30. And then figure out parking and traffic. That was a headache too because nobody knew what to do, where to go and park.

Wonderful learning experience for the kids! We went during the free salmon give away and learned so much and saw first hand how they milk then and harvest the eggs to add to their hatchery.

Giving fish away is better than having them go to waste. I will always visit this hatchery when there's free fish

There yearly free salmon giveaway is so awesome. I think that's pretty cool that they giveaway free salmon instead of just letting them go to waist. Ours lasts us through the winter. Great for eating and great for smoking too. Thank you Clear Creek Hatchery.
