The shoe department person was very helpful when I needed to do an exchange for a defective shoe, but the people at frontline were kind of rude and uninformative :/

On the morning of Friday , June 24 2022 I purchased an $800 Cannondale bike online via the REI website to be assembled for pickup at the Olympia, WA location. A week later I received an email message informing me that my order had been delayed for some unspecified reason but was now finally being shipped to Olympia from the REI Sumner Distribution Center. Almost two weeks following my initial order I received another email message announcing the arrival of my bike at the Olympia REI store where assembly would begin and I could expect to it to be ready for pick up in the near future. The day finally arrived and I picked the bike up late in the evening on July 5th. Ready for my first ride on my new bike the following day, I didn't even get out of my driveway before the chain came off the cassette. I put the chain back on but it refused to stay put as the entire assembly was too far out of adjustment. I was forced to travel to the store (a forty-mile round trip) and have it put into the shop for reassembly/adjustment. The following day I barely made it down the road before the left pedal started to unscrew itself from the crank arm - it was clearly cross-threaded - and once again I had to make another 40-mile round trip to the store to get the bike repaired. That was it. I'd had more than enough of REI's incompetency. I wasn't going back there unless it was to return the bike and have my money refunded. My next course of action was to take the bike to a qualified bike technician for a complete safety inspection. Numerous items needed to be addressed including loose or overtightened nuts/bolts and screws (some of which where a full turn from being tight) and a supposedly brand new but severely frayed brake cable that had to be replaced. REI - shame on you.

What a phenomenal experience! It is apparent that employees love working here. Ethan taught me so much about shoes, it was extremely helpful. Highly recommended the REI membership. This shopping is not fast food, it's fine dining. Be patient and take your time. It's worth it.

Requires masks to shop here. Workers followed me and pregnant wife around the store with a box of masks saying "If you don't wear one people here may choose not to help you." Well, that's the end of my REI trips. Congrats you lost business to Cabela's and Walmart lol.

Yes they do bike repair and tune ups. Once you walk through the door turn to the right. Follow the bath to bikes then the repair desk/shop is on that back all
