Yes. You can park close to the tunnel but there is a small hill you have to walk up to get to the tunnel. Take a flashlight!

Yes, really nice place to take pets. Keep in mind that inside the DARK tunnel, it's best to take a bright flashlight. Take note that spings leak water through the rock, from overhead and sides. Chances are that you may get wet and the ground inside can be muddy in places. Is great for flash photography as well, especially in areas where the water is running down the walls, very colorful! You might get lucky and see a bat, but the ones that are there typically are beyond the fence and in the air shaft part of the tunnel.

Yes for the most part. If you are coming from a ways off and you only want to see the tunnel or falls you can call the city of Walhalla to get info they are the ones who maintain it

But the Isaqueena Falls in the same park area had a nice wooden walkway to a viewing area.

Behind the gate is supposed to be where the cave in happened but if you go to either side climb up and walk past 4 telephone poles your see a barb wire fence with a huge hole I suppose that's the cave in at the other side of the gate

No, there's no mining or panning allowed in the tunnel. There are creeks nearby that you could pan in.

The terrain inside the tunnel is very uneven with water on both sides... Constant water from the rocks creates divots in the dirt. There is a gate halfway back that was locked last time but even unlocked I don't think you could get past it as it has a step. The waterfalls are on uneven paths also.

It's a short walk to the tunnel, under 5 minutes maybe. The waterfall is another parking lot. It's absolutely beautiful and a nice walk around with look out decks. I climbed down the mountain to get in the waterfall it was beautiful but the climb back up takes a bit of endurance 😁

It's open to a point. You can go a good ways into it. My family enjoyed getting to see it. Be sure to watch your step. It's not a smooth surface and are some water spots. But plenty of area to walk and not get wet

Correction to Jason Howards answer. The Stumphouse tunnel park does not have camping like he said. The Sumter National FOREST (there is a difference) surrounds the city park and does have camping available.

The tunnel is about  1,617 foot but there is a gate about half way through. The gate is locked for safety reasons. It is very, very dark, cool and dripping wet. Important! Take flashlights to really enjoy the tunnel. Phillip is right make sure to visit the waterfall. To get a good view of it you may want to hike down the side of the hill to get to the base. Both are really enjoyable to visit. There is a $5 charge for parking. Take correct change as it is on the honor system.
