I had to get an Uber to get to my appointment and in the past they were willing to work with me on being a few minutes late. However for my last session I was 13 minutes late and the guy was not willing to work with me. I LITERALLY SPENT 100$ TO GET HERE. I tried calling several times to make a payment and to let them know traffic was bad and no one picked up.

I had completed the 6 series with Ketamine just 2 months ago for the first time ever and recently went back for my first “cap session” just 2 days ago. This has been my first time experiencing Ketamine since the series and I must say I am extremely disappointed at how things operate at this facility. Unfortunately that cap session had to be the worst therapeutic experience I have ever had in my 15 years of seeing therapists. Not only was my appointment rescheduled 3 times, but I was scheduled to meet with a therapist I have never met before. Weary about this situation, I trusted they knew what they were doing and assumed they would be qualified enough to hold space for someone under the influence of drug induced vulnerability, or at least have a specific format to guide the process. My vitals were taken in the treatment rooms where there is a TV with nature scenes and a comfy reclining chair. I was given the Ketamine injection there and then was taken to the therapist room for our session. I walked through a very intensely fluorescent lit room to the therapist talk room where I then finally met who I was going to be sitting with. (Side note for the owner, fluorescent lighting has to be the most uncomfortable light to be around regularly, let alone when you are on Ketamine!) Nothing is more awkward and unregulating than meeting a new therapist for the first time when Ketamine is just starting to hit you. It would have been MUCH more enjoyable and less nerve racking to have met the person who is about to witness me having a psychedelic experience BEFORE being medicated. I had mentioned to the nurse taking my vitals that I was not in the best spirits and had been struggling emotionally a bit the past couple of days. You would think that this information would inspire her to let the therapist know and perhaps check in to provide a comfortable and safe environment BEFORE putting someone under the influence. There was no orientation, goal setting, or review on how my experience with the series was before the trip and I felt there was no guidance through the experience. The questions I was asked throughout the session felt very irrelevant and her tone made me feel she was insecure about the work, coming off rude like she was annoyed and didn't know how to respond to me. I experienced this as a very poor job at holding space and quite honestly left me feeling overwhelmed, confused and very angry about the session. Ketamine is undoubtedly a strong and powerful substance that can work wonders when integrated correctly, and can trigger someone's emotional and mental state when not cared for with skill in a true therapeutic setting. Not only was my psychedelic experience at Klarisana lacking the support I needed, but as I waited for my ride after the session, I could hear a client unloading her issues to the nurse before her treatment. As a reminder, setting and environment is EVERYTHING when dealing with or coming down from psychedelic drugs. Hearing what should have been confidential information for that client was very uneasy for me coming back into reality and left me feeling like there is a very poor sense of privacy at that clinic. I do not believe the people at Klarisana understand the potency and vulnerability of a psychedelic experience, let alone a Ketamine experience. It is a shame to witness a drug like Ketamine come so far in being recognized for helping PTSD and people with severe depression only to be administered with such poor professionalism, care and lack of privacy for clients. I was told after my last review from the series that there were “people in training” a very poor excuse and even if that is the case, then who is supervising these people? I would like to know if there is any collaboration with substance abuse specialist at this facility to help regulate the come down and integrate the process for people? Yes psychedelic experiences can be great and life changing, but not unless there is a successful integration period!
