For a regular axle car the Chesapeake bay bridge the toll is $4 to get to the Ocean City side from the Anne Arundel county side there is no toll for coming back through. For the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel the toll is $13 each way.

I recommend you actually sail under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, it's the best way to see the architecture of the bridge itself and it's a heck of a lot quieter!

I really would not advise crossing in the rain. How ever there are places to park on either side of the bridge, and you can pay a professional driver to drive the bridge for you. Its like ten miles long , across the bay, so it messes with your vision. Also this weekend hurricane is coming up from the tropics, it could be slick, windy, and dangerous! Be safe!

Depends. It's not bay bridge water. It's the Chesapeake Bay. If you are talking about Sandy Point on western shore, drops down 30 feet .25 from jetty. If you're talking about Matapeake on Eastern shore, Kent Island, is same. We have a lot of Longshoremen and it too drops approximately 30 feet, about 30 feet from Shore. It sounds like you are unfamiliar with the area, DNR out there are no joke. Maybe consider going out down Romancoke off Kent island or Chester River in Grasonville. Once thru the wake, you'll travel east & it'll lead you out to the Kent Narrows.You can't go out from Narrows unless you pay for slip or trailer it under the Kent Narrows Bridge (rte 50) and launch out for free. Queen Anne's county have very strict laws & permits. The old Kent Narrow bridge is a drawbridge, under 50, once there go under the overpass and there is a boat launch next to the Marina. Outside of that, you're talking about cargo, and cruise ships leads to Port of Baltimore & that is the Atlantic Oc.

Yes. I would start with Sandy Point State Park. It's north of the bridge on the Annapolis side. Google the park. It shows a picture of the bridge. I'm guessing that lighting for photography would be best in the morning this time of year. After noon the bridge will be back-lit by the sun.

Suspension...the people posting below regarding tunnels are confusing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Annapolis, MD with the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel which is a trestle bridge with tunnels in VA.

There are two bridges now. Originally only one that was opened in 1952, which had one lane in each direction for traffic. A second bridge was built to accommodate larger volumes if traffic which was opened in 1973.

The bridge closes when the wind reaches a certain speed at the peak height which should be around the middle of the span. I believe it's around 50 miles per hour but there will be signs everywhere saying whether or not it's closed
