My son found an abandoned cat at the storage facility where he works. I called 311 and was told by the city services operator that I had to have an appointment to drop off a stray at the intake shelter. You must be a resident of Albuquerque to drop off an animal at one of the 2 shelters. I chose the NE shelter. My appointment was for 4 hours later the Saturday we found the cat. I had my own cat carrier to hold the cat. The intake officer was so nice. He asked for my ID and I filled out a short form. He took the cat to check for microchip but there was none. He said the cat will go up on the website as an adoptable cat on the 19th. Because the cat is so friendly, young, and pretty, the officer thinks the cat will be adopted the same or next day. He said, "thanks for bringing this sweet cat in." This cat deserves a good home. He was so hungry and I gave him some cat food before going to the intake shelter.

What a rude old grumpy sad man that runs the admissions ! He is lazy and literally doing nothing but sitting there and cannot help me get my dog out ! Unreal how inconsiderate some people can be. This is why our tax dollars at us

I went in and for me i had to place a priority deposit cause the dog i wanted has a chance to be claimed..so you might have a bit of a wait if this happens. They do need more volunteers
No but why would you want to give up your dog anyway
This is from their website: www.cabq.gov/pets/adoptions They have adoption locations at the Eastside Shelter, Westside Shelter and Lucky Paws. And fees cover the spay/neuter and vaccines. Yes they do take in cats! To fix your the cat is 50.00!
I would reach out to the animal shelter and if they can't help you, then ask them for any referrals. Also, you may think about opening a go fund me account. I wish you the best and I hope that you get the care that your puppy needs.
Yes they do take them in. When I was there a couple weeks ago, they had of course Dawgs, kitties, rabbits, and all kinds of cute little rodent creatures. They also take good care of the animals, until they find good homes for them
Yes
As an animal foster family, having taken a few litters of kittens temporarily until they are ready to be adopted, yes they do. It's is, however, a busy season so they may be over capacity. I would try and call them before you make any decisions. The foster coordinators are pretty great.
Give 311 a call they will be able to answer your question quicker and more accurately
It should give you an option on Google Reviews. You can load pictures but not to my knowledge videos.
Most of the time they have some puppies but they go pretty fast. You can call ahead before you go to make sure. They have two shelters, one on the westside and one on the eastside.
Call 311. They can direct you to animal services.
Yes, they do. And if they're not at the shelter than they are in foster homes so be sure to ask about them.
That is an excellent idea! I know they have rooms that can be used to get to know a dog or a cat. I personally don't see why they would object to you bringing in your family cat to help choose a dog with you. I would call them, though, during business hours to be sure it's ok. I saw this question after 6:pm and they are closed or I'd have asked for you.
Our Pet Food Bank is located in the Quonset Hut at the north end of our Main Campus (615 Virginia St. SE). Hours: 10 am – noon Wednesday and Sunday
Check Animal Humain etc..this city has many pet adoption services. I would not buy from pet shops.
I think you have to call 311
For most dog's the shots are included in the adoption unless there was either a medical problem or they are just to young. At least that is how it was for me.
Not really but it's not an actual vet clinic it's more for the dogs they have at the shelter and those that need to be spayed or neutered. Call 311 and check on the city clinic that was supposed to open a few months ago. I think it's on Wyoming. Hope this helps.
911 or if the animal is in distress break the window.0
You would need to call and make an appointment to surrender an animal.
Yes but no. The shelter will only euthanize animals when their medical conditions outweigh the resources, or when the animal been deemed a danger to public and can't be adopted or transferred to a partner organization. They do not euthanize for space
They do have puppies and you currently don't need an appointment. You can go to petfinder.com to browse the animals they have available for adoption and they're really good about keeping it updated. I hope that helps.
Right now the fees are waived, but normally it's 25 dollars for all cats and dogs.
The shelter serves the citizens of Albuquerque you must be a city resident to drop off an animal and usually requires an appointment unless its an emergency
Call 311, CABQ. Animal Services will provide traps & either you take them back to Animal Services or they pick them up after you have resolved the issue.
You can go to CABQ.GOV (City of Albuquerque) look for the Animal Services Department, from that menu scroll down until you see the link for search for lost/adoptable pets. It should redirect you to Pet Harbor which is the City's official site. Also, you can go to either shelter (Eastside & Westside) & search in person. There are a # of other websites you might search or post for your lost cat.
They should but you'll have to make an appointment on the website 1st due to COVID
Yes they have all kinds, shapes, and sizes.
I do believe they take cats. I do not know if at a cost though.
Yes! The shelter has vets that can offer treatment. Please do bring her to the shelter. If she is in really bad shape you can take her to route 66 emergency and they will start treatment.
If it hasn't been spayed or neutered they will do that for you before letting your fur baby come home and depending on the day of adoption will happen that day. I recently adopted a puppy, on a Sunday, and was able to bring her home the next day after her spay surgery.
Was your cat taken by animal welfare or are you adopting?
Watermelon Ranch has a service for Sandoval County sliding scale income qualify for lower cost On spay & neutering I'm not sure if this is for county residents only.
I'm not sure, but I know ANIMAL HUMANE on Virgina, SE does and are ALWAYS in need of such items as they provide them to the orphan animals as well as other needy pet-families in the area! I personally know people and their pets who have benefited from these services! They are awesome! Your donation will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
It depends on what shots are required. I would call them directly and ask. Also ask if there are any low income assistance to do so. I know that several times a year they have income based shot clinics... Call the City at 311 8:30-5pm and have them transfer you. Good luck!
You would have to go in. And yes they are very reasonable
I recently rescued a rottweiler. He got out of the yard and went to doggie jail. Lol it cost $25 for his, chip, shots, and to get him fixed
Sometimes
I do not know but give them a call. They are very friendly and take good care of the animals.
What happened?
Not aware of issue
Yes you have to have prove cuz what I had to when I lost my years ago
Not sure if you’re still interested but I found a German Shepard 1 year old male two weeks ago and I was trying to find a home before going to the animal shelter . My apartments don’t allow dogs so I have no other option now , just give it to the shelter and see if he gets a home
The adoption process is normally finding a family that is wanting to take him. They will take good care of them until the time that he gets adopted don't know what the connection is with you and him I'm sure it's a good one you may see if you can visit him afterwards. You can ask these questions at animal humane and they'll be more able to answer your questions I'm sorry that you have to give your pet up but it's nice that you're giving him up so that he can find a home instead of just letting him go
Call 311 and you will be able to report it through the correct avenue.
Yes you can also if you are on any kind of state assistance you get a discount so definitely take your food stamp card welfare card insurance card whatever it may be to prove that you are on assistance from the state and you get a discount
People have 7 days then the animal is put up for adoption but if the animal is still there after 7 days and you can afford the bording fees they will release the pet to you
We only have two shelters in Albuquerque one of the north east side on Lomas + 1 + 98 streets on 9 Mile Hill also there is a pet store on Coors nw next to the Wal greens and they will take it I have taken many different pets my kids come and leave me with and they are good!
There has to be an emergency number to call to let them know find out the procedures
They have programs to do fixing andbshots regularlu, look online to see, had my cat fixed there free and got his first shots there with their program
I've asked. They do not do that for the public. Has to be a private vet.
You need to contact the city department directly.
They neuter and spay which are surgical procedures
