Great place. Very strict but also very helpful.

I tried to get a bed during the winter, but was told they were all full. This was only after they asked if I had recently stayed at the other shelter in town. They would not even put me on a waiting list. Other residents confirmed that there were empty beds going unused at the time.

Yes
Me, my spouse, and his son need housing
Must be in Will County for minimum of 6 months or you only get three nights with a valid government photo ID, social security card and birth certificate.
Call them and ask the reception for Gail she in charge of the kitchen.
Catholic Charities Daybreak shelter can help you for a minimum of 3 nights, if you live out of the county. But you have to reside in Will County for at least 6 months to be able to stay longer and you need to meet certain criteria. They will have you do an intake filling out a bunch of forms to see if you qualify. It's not the Ramada Inn or the Marriott but it is a warm place to stay that will provide you 3 full-course meals a day and a safe place to sleep, bathe and wash your clothes. If you are a woman and you have children, you have to sleep in the women's dormitory for a night or more. Then you get to move to the family dormitory and sleep in bunk beds. You have to follow the guidelines or you will find yourself out on a concrete slab, not trying to be harsh. Everyone has to participate in doing chores during breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you don't voluntarily sign up then the staff will sign you up for one. Curfew is at 9 pm, no later!
Are you coming to Joliet from Venezuela?
No, they only accept residents of Will County (the state county that the shelter resides in) and/or proof that you have lived in Will County for at least six months prior to your visit with the shelter. This proof could even be bank statements that record back to six months ago where you have continuously used transactions within the Will County limits. *And for the record, very strict set of rules. Curfew is at 9pm. Chores are mandatory. Scheduled Laundry. And wishy-washy staff.
It's a homeless shelter
Not sure there is an age limit.
You have to call them
They are an emergency shelter for men, women, and children but you must live in Will county for no less than 6 months with a valid government photo ID social security card and birth certificate for proof. People who live out of the county only get three nights.
David Lukes in order to be considered a client of Daybreak you will need to provide a current id showing that you are a resident of Will County, or be able to provide 6 months of residency. With this information you can stay in shelter for up to 90 days, if you can not provide this information you will only be allowed to stay for 3 nights. Intakes are done from 9am until 12 then again from 1-4pm. I am one of the case managers at Daybreak.
Yes and they also have bed bugs, black mold and mice plus some rats
I work there. The shelter is open 24/7/365. If someone is from Will, DuPage, Grundy, Kendall, Kankakee, Ford, or Iroquois Counties they are eligible for 90 days of shelter. If someone is from outside of those counties they are eligible for 3 nights of shelter. Families with children will not be turned away even if the shelter is at capacity. If someone is seeking shelter between 9pm-7am they will need a police escort, which can be arranged by calling the Joliet police non-emergency number.
He needs a IS to get inherent still needs a ID
Go the the office ask to speak to kevin hes in charge Its based in if they have vouchers etc
I believe they only accept unopened packaged food.
