The perfect place to go to and loose yourself in the wonders of such a place in the middle of the city. Get away from the insane daily struggles and find relaxation in nature.

We love this place! They offer so many wonderful programs for children! Finding ways to get out in nature is very important to our family and we love coming here to hike and learn. The staff beautifully maintains the trails, playground, and learning center.

Favorite park in all of Houston. My dog's favorite as well. Lots of shade, many trails. Beautiful year around.

Nature getaway in the middle of the city

Free. The classes for adults and kids have cost. With membership have a discount.
Yes! Dogs are allowed on the trails of the Arboretum. City rules regarding pets apply, including keeping your pet on leash and picking up after your pet. Water is available at the Nature Center building and treats are available at the front desk! Please note - pets are not allowed at Arboretum classes and special events, unless otherwise noted.
No picnic tables. It is more like a nature preserve than a park although they do have a playground for kids. I would plan on eating in Memorial Park and then explore the trails and nature center of the Arboretum.
It's free. Just get a map or use Google maps and walk around. It's amazing this place exists within the city.
No, we do not currently have an electric vehicle charger on site.
To walk the Arboretum is free, just pay for parking (at theaww q meters, it will print out a receipt to display on your dashboard). Cost per hour is under a dollar, and parking is free on Thursdays. Check out the Nature Center while there.
Yes
Service animals but no otherwise I assume. There are plenty of ppl w dogs there on trails and gardens
Yes but you must pick up after them.. you and your dog will enjoy a pleasant and peaceful walk.
Buildings are closed today but trail within the arb is open
The trails in the northeast portion of the site, including several new trails, will reopen in June. The trails in the northwest portion of the site will remain closed for the time being as we work to make our ravine, which was heavily impacted by hurricane Harvey, safe for visitors.
And
There are 5 miles of trails. The Arboretum closes at dusk.
The rules don't specifically mention painting. As long as you find a spot where you aren't blocking the path for the other guests, I doubt anyone will mind.
If you can carry
For safety reasons we are not able to accept outside wildlife at the Arboretum. Thanks for asking!
It does close at night and gates to parking area are locked but the area is still technically accessable on foot.
At your convenience. Ppl do wear them, but you're outside. We wore when in close proximity to others.
The trails are free to visit. Parking is $ 5 and is free on Thursdays.

Apparently there is one in the lake with lots of turtles but didn't see it.
Not sure but we people visiting have a passion for flowers.
Probanbly.
Yes, there is a juvenile alligator who likely came from Buffalo Bayou and has taken up residence in the Meadow Pond.
Leashed dogs are welcome on the Arboretum's trails, however biking and running are not permitted. For running and bike friendly trails, please visit Memorial Park right next door!
Visitors are welcome to take photos at the Arboretum. Professional photographers and visitors taking posed photography are asked to follow our policies regarding photography which can be found on our website at https://houstonarboretum.org/visitor-policies/
Why would anyone want to play "catch and release"?? That causes extreme damage to the fish which would eventually be harmed from the hook wounds. Is this question even for real? I do hope that absolutely no type of fishing is allowed at the Arboretum!
No I don't think so.
It would be great IF you had visibility to the east. I don't think that you do.
I havent seen any ticks here, and I also think its important to know I havent looked for any ticks here
They close the gates by 7pm each day for the Arboretum trails. (Except for special night events throughout the year, as noted by other commentators) However the attached Memorial Park trails are open 24 hours.
It depends on the type of chair. The trails are mulch covered and I see strollers all the time. The parking and building is handicap friendly. There are benches throughout the trail system. If you need help while you are there I'm sure the employees will be happy to assist. They are very nice!
The center and the garden is definitely accessible with handicap parking and concrete paths. Many of the trails in the back are stone paths and would be difficult to use.
You can bring pets on the trails and even inside the building on carpeted areas only.
It should be done by Spring 2018
It's free. But the classes they give have a price.
