My husband and I have followed National Mill Dog Rescue for a number of years. We saw in the group of dogs they had recently rescued one that we thought would fit in well with our family. Filling out an adoption application was easy. Communication with NMDR was easy, and setting up an appointment to meet the dog was fairly easy. We were impressed with the friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of the facility, and overall their treatment of these rescued dogs. We are looking forward to adding this little dog to our family.

Great facility with loving staff. This place does amazing work. I can not say enough good about it and my short visit. Volunteers help keep it running. Rehabbers work tirelessly with the dogs to help rehabilitate them. The dogs are loved and cared so much. It’s a very clean facility. It’s a very full facility as their work is continuous. I loved my visit with them and wish I lived closer so I could visit and help more.

NMDR is absolutely amazing. Not only do they save precious lives every day, they do it with respect, dignity and love to every pup that goes in there. This place is big, yet so clean. They work hard at socializing the rescues and much more 🥰 Let's please do our part and adopt, not shop 🐾

I can't say enough good things about this rescue organization. Everyone was very professional yet always warm and friendly to work with. They really helped us find the right pet to join our other two pets. We now have our Pepper who we adore and love and who is doing so well!! Many thanks to NMDR and the wonderful work they do, they are angels!

Shane all the available dogs available for adoption from Nation Mill Dog Rescue are under the available dog tab at milldogrescue.org :) they have little bios too
It would probably be best to call Mill Dog. And ask them... They are very helpful
Do applicationand continue calling :)
I would also fill out the adoption papers before hand so when they do get the breed you're looking for in you're ready right away. Sometimes if you're not fast enough they get adopted before you can even get your paperwork done
Your best bet is to go to their website and see who is listed for adoption. They want you to fill out an application first, then they'll bring you in to interview puppies. You could try calling, but it's best if you start on their site. Best wishes
Yes. They take 13 and older but if you're under 18 a parent has to be w you at all times
Try a. Houston Rescue
No, once adopted all medical responsibilities are the adopters
Have no idea who that is.
Also, if they can transfer dogs to other facilities, it opens up space at NMDR so that they can rescue more dogs. They work with many organizations to get these dogs into loving homes as fast as possible.
There are A LOT of small dogs as well as big dogs at national mill dog rescue
You will have to fill out an application online in order to be considered. You can call to see though.
The kennel is closed to visitors in the morning for cleaning- visiting hours are 12-4. It is best to call ahead and make an appt since things can get pretty busy!
I'm sure they would love them. They are located in Peyton Colorado near Colorado Springs and if you Google get their phone number you can talk to them directly. Just Google national Mill dog rescue and you can probably find them on Petfinder too.
Their website has a section with information about how to volunteer.
NMDR is a wonderful place. They give mistreated dogs a loving home. We have adopted 2 dogs from them. I highly recommend making an appointment to visit their facility.
I suggest u call yhem
Email the rescue directly. I'm sure they'll answer your questions.
Email the rescue directly
A lot of the dogs , especially puppies are at foster homes so you would need an appointment to meet them.
Hi Kimberly, thank you for asking! Rescue Readers is not on a set schedule, but we will have future dates scheduled on our Facebook page for your convenience!
Yes, fill out an application and give it a few days...they will send you information about needing pictures of your fenced in yard and a video you should watch about adopting a puppy mill survivor. Good luck
Hi Mecca, thank you for your interest! Please take a peek at this link to get started with the adoption rules and application: https://nmdr.org/our-dogs/adopt/
The first two responses are accurate, eloquent, and well stated. My original thoughts were of a similar vein, but were more angry that anyone would think that such a wonderful rescue organization would fund puppy mills. Rant over. All you have to do is go to the rescue and you see all the love these people have for the dogs they rescue. There's a memorial statue for Lilly, the rescue that inspired the organization. You can learn more through their well-written Website. They are angels for these mistreated abused dogs.
what is that supposed to mean
