What a wonderful time! Peaceful and quiet. Owner is a True Damond. Cabins are being remodled but clean. A refreasing break from todays hurry up world back to the way things use to be. You will miss out if it is not on your bucket list. Looking forward to our next trip. Wonderful is the only way to describe Stone Lodge.

June 14, 15 and 16, 2020, ten of us, five adults and five kids, stayed at Stone House Lodge for four days/three nights in the four bedroom “cabin”. Very easy to find when coming off Highway64/84E. Eighteen minutes and 13.4 scenic miles along a paved two-lane road, 95, including a beautiful drive past the south end of the lake and over one of the lakes dams. The Google directions, if you are coming from the south will bring you along Highway 112 which abruptly turns to dirt about 27.8 miles from the turn from Highway 550. The remaining 22 miles of road is dirt and some gravel and though it is a decent enough forest service road and provides some amazing scenery and wonderful views along the west side of El Vado Lake after turning onto 322. Rain/snow can make this seldom traveled road a challenge. Native wildlife was seen during our stay which excited everyone in our party very much. The facilities at Stone House Lodge, are definitely as described in some previous reviews, rus·tic /ˈrəstik/ 1) relating to the countryside; rural. 2) having a simplicity and charm that is considered typical of the countryside 3. made in a plain and simple fashion. Do not expect a five star experience from the standpoint of room service or turndown service, hot tubs, saunas or swimming pools, no continental breakfast (unfortunately the on premise café was closed due to the Covid scare). But everything was very clean and very functional for our needs. The staff was outstanding and very helpful and helped us to the extent of their abilities with every request we had. We are hopeful to return to this gem of a place as soon as possible.

Stone House Lodge is one of those hidden gems. Rustic and without modern amenities (no television, very limited internet/cellphone), it is exactly what one would want for a complete getaway. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the near future. My sincere thanks to our hosts for a wonderful experience!

If you find yourself at Heron Lake State Park or El Vado, or in the area, this out of the way restaurant is the best in the area. Local, pleasant staff and a pretty darn good burger can be found at the Stone House Lodge restaurant. At this visit, Hummingbird's were a plenty outside for viewing pleasure. This is a casual place with simple, yet good food. Do keep in mind, the water is local and pop would be the best choice for beverage, as the coffee and tea are made with the water and the after taste is not pleasing. But don't let that or the 'is this a restaurant?' look, stop you from giving it a try!

Hi Jhon, Our primary season for cabin rentals is Memorial Day through Labor Day. We often open a bit earlier and extend the season later. We are closed for the season this year. Call us to check RV spaces. We might be able to accommodate you.
