Great location and nice lake views from the upper king room. Room was clean which was a relief. Bath very dated with broken dirty jet tub. Had a room fridge and ice maker in hall. But they couldn't offer glasses, really? Automatic door barely opened, as did the inner door. Snow is messy, but all the floors remained dirty.

I understand the COVID related economic downturn has left businesses short staffed, but the lack of attention to bare details here is horrible. A pass/fail grade for me starts with the condition of the bathroom. It was filthy and was missing a shower curtain. The thermostat was dangling from the wall. My son adds: " It's apparent that we've had a similar experience to other people who've written reviews concerning the lack of cleanliness, lack of staff, and overall state of the building. "Just walking in the building we noticed that the carpet definitely hadn't been cleaned in ages. We walked past a room where the door bolt had been broken off and paint from the door frame was spread all across the floor. In our hotel room the view of the lake was blocked by condensation on the windows, and the windows were lined with black mold. There were random white smears on the windows as well. The windowsill had scratches all over it and a chunk taken out of the wood. We didn't even bother checking the beds or any other furniture and checked out of the hotel soon after. There was also bar soap that had already been used sitting in the shower." The only good thing I can say is that the man working the desk immediately and politely refunded our reservation upon my request. Kicking myself I did not do enough of a review read when I booked 6 months ago. My race to find a room elsewhere at check-in time nearly ruined a 2 night stay in Lake Placid.

WELL... overall I would never stay here again. The entire place hasn't been touched since the late 80s. Very run down and not really a single amenity. The first room I was in had cigarette ash on the floor in the bathroom and hair/ eyelashes on one of the beds. Countertops hadn't been cleaned. I asked for a refund for that night and for the room to be cleaned the next morning. When it wasn't cleaned that day they then offered to move me to a different room. The second room was clean. The tub did not drain however and the fan was extremely loud. The staff was very friendly and took care of the issues I had but really only stay here if you have to. I would have paid another 100$ a night somewhere else had I known. I think they are doing the best they can with what they have, but bottom line if you can go somewhere else, do.

Honestly I wish I had read the reviews before booking! I paid $225 for one night. This hotel needs to update their pricing based on the rooms / accommodations. The gentleman was very nice at check in. There is the plus. However, he wore his pants about mid butt! The bathroom was not the cleanest and the jacuzzi tub didn't work. The tub also had a panel duct taped on. The tv didn't have sound on half the channels and picture quality was awful. The beds were clean. Honestly, we stayed at another location for $85 a night and it was way better. The lobby is the nicest part of this hotel. Won't book it again.. ☹️ wish I could get some money back.. more money doesn't mean better place.. remember that!
