Came as a new patient for family medicine to see Dr. Thurman. As having been a former associate director of risk and finance for one of NYC's largest health systems I immediately found a new primary care physician after having experienced "care" by Dr. Thurman. As far as a high performing physician goes, he is exemplary in that he churns through patients like a machine all while pretending show a high level of (prescribed) empathy. He will even go so far to tell you that he was chair of a hospice so in terms of show you how much he "cares", he has seen the worst so be prepared for a full-on performance. But in terms of actual care provided, he did not address any of my initial concerns, simply glazed over them, requested a generic RBC/blood work and literally helped me to the checkout line. There were certain medications that I explicitly told the medical office assistant upon intake as well as some testing I needed, all of which were not addressed but only after following up myself not once, but twice via MyChart. I can see him as being a star-performer as far as a health system goes, again because he minimizes patient office visit time, but from a patient perspective, I would steer clear. I have since found another physician and am much happier with him in terms of concerns being addressed and not just treated like livestock- I would suggest you do the same.

Very poor communication. The receptionist wasn’t sure what the price is $300 or $700 for an ultrasound. After making a call she told me $295 for an ultrasound, the rest is to talk to the nurse…like it’s totally ok. They also confirmed my appointment on Zocdoc, sent me text reminders and then said I don’t have one when I arrived; said left a voice mail, but didn’t leave one. Everything just kind of went wrong, I just don’t understand why they price their services so highly when there’s no basic courtesy to begin with

I’ve been a patient here for multiple specialties and have always had a great experience. Professional care, easy check in, and nice facilities

Medical staff were friendly. It’s the Public Safety officer. He’s the first person you come to before checking in. Besides being rude to us, I sat in the waiting area for approximately an hour and his demeanor on how he interacts with several patients checking in is awful. Its liked he was bothered by patients asking him questions because he had to look up from his cell phone.
