From the other pics on google I was a lil hesitant to stay here cause it looked kinda scary BUT when you get here and start walking the trails you start to appreciate how neat this state park is and the history behind it is fascinating. We camped out here and it was very quiet but definitely bring your bug spray.

Loved this park! Tick and deer population very high but just be cautious. The scenery is beautiful and it's quiet. Loved the hiking, cycling, and history. Oh and who doesn't love the spring options near by!?

Great place for a little afternoon hike or somewhere you could spend the whole day! We took the River trail and it was an easy and enjoyable hour/hour and a half walk along the Santa Fe River over many bridges and mostly flat (b/c FL...). While it probably wouldn't be as fun during a wet or rainy day (there were spots that looked like they could flood or be buggy on the trail) we had great weather, saw a good amount of wildlife (birds, a few alligators, and LOTS of turtles), and can't wait to go back again to take a different path!

Leaving four stars because it's beautiful there. The river trail is family friendly and had so many trees and flowering plants. The limestone trail is also family friendly with a beautiful rock formation midway that is worth seeing. The star gazing was beautiful. We bought our telescope and had the best time with our son. I'm giving four stars instead of five because of the condition of our campsite and also the ticks that were on the dogwood trail. We had site 37 and the amount of mud was just...bad. As frequent campers we've had many campsites with standing water after rain. We've had campsites that during rainstorms we've had rivers running through it. But the sites had a pad that wasn't just dirt. They've always had rock, gravel, concrete, or some combination. We had to wade through ankle deep mud to get to our car, camper, etc. Also, I would recommend that they put signs up at the trailheads warning about the ticks. There were warnings at the restrooms, but if your in an RV or travel trailer you don't really need to go to the restrooms. The Dogwood trail was our last hike and the amount of ticks (even with Deet) was 😬.

Yes, just keep them on a leash (some folks are scared of dogs) make sure they have tick protection and bring poop bags.
Yes the facility's are very nice... I recommend going into the Magnolia loop. It's a very short walk over to the river
There is, call to book
Maybe raccoons too, though the comments about uncertainty of seeing any creature are correct. There is an environmental center near the Park entrance and sometimes animals are displayed there. Certainly lots of birds and insects are prevalent in this great park
State parks usually require the written permission of a park officer. I'd suggest calling their office or visiting the rangers' station at the entrance of the park and asking about their regulations on metal detecting. Hope this helps :)
never had a problem..have AT&T. Usually not using phone but enjoying the park.
The park is divided into 2 campgrounds. You want the Magnolia side, it has the playground on that side.
Florida law requires all state parks to have walk in sites available for Florida residents.
No
I really liked campsite #058, so I would recommend that with 057 and 056. Enjoy your stay!
Yes, and it is a beautiful park, with a very friendly and helpful staff.
The camp sites in the Magnolia loop do not have grills. There are grills available at the picnic area by the bathrooms, playground and swim area.
Yes, you will need a Florida freshwater fishing license.
We've never seen anyone on one there
You can call them to get answers to all the questions you have
In Florida, if there is a body of water, chances are high that a gator lives in or near it. However, they don't seem to like the cooler (~72 degree) springs to swim in but they may sun nearby.
see there i learned something today thanks
Yes
$5 cash to the ranger at the gate, if no one is in the guard shack, put $5 in one of the envelopes located in the bottom slot of the honor box (grey metal payment box), which is just beyond the gate, driver side, then drop it in the top spot of the honor box. Place the perforated portion of the envelope on your dash.
When I went to the rise that is where I parked. Just go through the gate and you'll see the parking area. This is an equestrian trail so watch out for horses.
Know where you go tubing is Ichetucknee
You better call them now amlnd get the pass numbers for the gate
Mosquitoes are not real bad don't have no problem when it's like below 70 degrees but make sure if you go on the trails you have somebody to help check for ticks afterwards because they are there and you can get them to where you can't see him
Cabins are for groups only - have to rent whole group of cabins. Fishing allowed from river banks. No boating access from inside park, but nearby access is available.
Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is 1 p.m.
Magnolia is within short walking distance from the river. Dogwood is 2 miles down a paved road. There is also a hiking trail from Dogwood to just short of the river.
Yes, the river is a decent spot to fish at for scenic views but if you're interested in catching a lot, there are some really good spots tucked away at the back of the hiking trails.
32 miles if you add them all together.
No damage to our property and we are 1.2 miles from the park. We barely had rain, or any wind.
Semis have been able to park here just fine.
River Rise is upstream from the High Springs boat ramp, which is a better put in. Still a ways from the Suwannee though.
Yes they do at the main gate. 5 dollars and some change I believe. It was available as of 22 January 2018.
You can stay two weeks. The rule in all Florida State Parks.
Are they allowed in the park on the main roads? Golf carts/utv or are they prohibited?
I'm pretty sure you can rent cabins for a small party. Word to the wise: bring tick repellant!
