Great place to bring friends and family for an adventure. We enjoyed relaxing in the river. To access the river, go to the day use area. There is a concert trail that connects to the other side of the park, you can use that to access the water. Another option is to access the river through a little trail through the trees by some of the picnic tables in the day use areas. The park was very clean and cheap entrance fee of $3 per adult.

Wonderful time at this park. You have it all kayaking, hiking fishing. We had a wonderful family time there.

Probably one of the best parks that we've been to! I mean WOW!! We did go after a rain storm so the mosquitos were out in force and they are huge!! We had no idea but we ran into a young woman who kindly let us use a little of her spray and then two park Rangers who let us some of theirs too. Everyone there, staff and other hikers were super nice and helpful. The bathrooms were super clean and we'll kept too! We will definitely be back and hopefully do some camping there too.

Nice place for a day trip. A short hike along the river where you can visit a water tower. There is lake with camping ground. Fishing is allowed in the lake. There are no time restrictions. Swimming is allowed in certain areas.

Your best bet is to give them a phone call. They have full hookups but for the most recent availability I would call
From the side of the river of the Refectory, there is a wide concrete path down to a bridge. Left of that path, in the day picnic area, there is a dirt trail down to a pebble beach. It is quite nice, enjoy.
I assume you mean walk in camp sites? Yes. There are day use and overnight use camp sites. The park is excellent. Free fishing in all Texas State Parks. Clean facilities. Well maintained.
Yes. Kids under 12 free but 13 and older $3 per person and there's special pricing for seniors over 65 and park pass holders.
@ Luling city park there is hot mineral Springs that will make you feel better! ! Soak & feel better! Amen!
Most rentable water craft are $10 per hour $40 per day at least as of June 23 2018
No, you don't. I don't think you do in any Texas State Park.
The access to the river is also a bit sketchy but fun
In most cases they do. Its best to call ahead and check because that does change for different reasons.
Not that I'm aware of. I know they are at the state park east of this one but, not particularly this one.
I honestly don't know about at the pond but you can in the river.
Yes on a leash not roaming
Check in time is 2:00 on. If you pre pay online you'll be automatically checked in.
they will let you pay an additional vehicle fee if you have more than two vehicles per site, but I don't think they'll allow extra people per site. but they'll let you get two campsites.
Yes swimming in the lake is ok. I preferred the river the moving water was fun to float in.
There is a medium sized pond at the campground near the main gate. I believe you are welcome to fish it, but I think its catch and release. The San Marcos river runs through the park and its subject to State Fishing laws. Was there a couple weeks ago and lots of folks were coming up empty.
Sorry, I only know the campsites but one of my family members rented a cabin and loved it.
$65 per night. https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/palmetto/fees-facilities/palmetto-lodging
We had a 32 foot trailer and could park our truck in front but had to park so as not to be on the grass You have to be on the asphalt only. If you're in a tent, then no problem, you'll have plenty a of room . Mm m
Yes.
Great point Tiffany. Call first cause she sounds about right. K? Thanks!
Yes they are. Great tip - Shelia - check at Ranger Station, prior to, in case of fire 🔥 bans.
I do not know, but I would check the website or call the park to be sure.
No wifi, spotty service but we're able to connect 1 bar outside of our camper and on the River. We have TMobile.
Lake is very small
"no public display or consumption" is the rule. In other words don't show labels, consume in tent/trailer.
Same, I'm not sure of the hours but they are open. They also have a website
Depends on the size of the group.
I don't know u have to call and see
The park offers camping, canoing, fishing, hiking, swimming and other such outdoor activities in a [nearly] wild spot of South Texas. It has a bight of river going through ithe park, a small lake and a swamp. Also great for seeing birds.
There is a place to shower in one of the camping areas, the cabin doesn't have a shower or restroom in it.
No gators just fish
Good dogs on leash are never a problem. If you pick up after your dog and it is under control and Doesn't bark continually, no problem. I love walking my dog on the trails but take doggy bags with me, then dispose of them when I get back.
Yes, the Palmetto Interpretive Trail and Ottine Swamp Trail both have signs indicating some of the history and ecology of those areas. The other trails likely have similar information posted along them, but those are the two I walked when I visited the park.
We saw deer, a lot of birds including hawks and wild pigs. There are tons of trees and some nice camping spots. It is a good place for bicycles as the hiking is limited.
There is the san marcos river and oxbow lake
The RV loop is $18 per night. Water only sites are $12 per night. There is one RV spot with a sewer hook up and that goes for $20 per night. The park also charges a $3 per day entry fee for those 12 and older.
Not here but several in San Marcos.
3$ a person. No parking fee
Wildlife Lookout on Park Road 11just off of 183,is beautifully calming,to the spirit
From their website: Open daily. Gate is locked only when the park is closed for emergencies. Office Hours: 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. daily Busy Season Make overnight reservations at least two to three weeks ahead of time from March to November.
