Thousands of employees contract work-related illnesses and sustain work-related injuries every year, and many of these illnesses and injuries are significant. Many require medical treatment, and some prove to be fatal. Workers’ compensation insurance is a form of insurance that helps both employees who suffer work-related illnesses or injuries, and their employers. Employers can often be held responsible for illnesses and injuries that employees suffer while on the job. In many cases, an employer may be asked to both cover an employee’s medical bills and provide compensation for the employee’s lost wages. Workers’ compensation insurance helps businesses prepare for this potential risk. The insurance offers coverage for employees who become ill or injured while at work, usually covering both medical bills and a portion of wages that are lost due to the illness or injury.
Most people who own a house should have home insurance. Homeowners who have a mortgage on their house are often required by their lender to maintain a minimum level of structural coverage, so the lender’s interest in the home is protected even if the house is destroyed. Even homeowners who own their house outright, however, may still want to carry a homeowners policy. For, few people could afford to replace their home if it was destroyed.
Auto policies can include several different coverages. A few coverages that are available through most policies as either standard or optional protections include: Personal Injury Protection (PIP), which might cover injuries that a driver or their passengers sustain during an accident; Bodily Injury Liability, which may cover injuries that people outside of a driver’s vehicle sustain during an accident; Comprehensive and Collision Coverage, which usually cover a driver’s vehicles in a variety of situations; Property Damage Liability Coverage, which may cover damage that a driver causes to other people’s property; and Underinsured and Uninsured Motorist Coverage, which might cover accidents that are caused by other drivers who aren’t adequately insured. Along with these common coverages, some insurance companies also offer emergency roadside assistance, rental coverage, or other protections as optional add-ons.
