So thankful for the great work and quality care by all the staff. We adopted twice from ASDR and were provided with lots of helpful, honest, information allowing us to make an informed decision.
Terry Blacksten
Very helpful. Very nice people. I found a stray and could not find her owner so they took her in for me and are helping her find a new forever home. I would definitely go there to adopt. They have some really cute dogs.
Laura Durkin
Wonderful, friendly staff. Such sweet dogs and well taken care of..check them out. I foster for them. You can too

My little old 13 yr old guy "Niko" The Jack Russell is doing just fine. He's living the good life and very happy letting everybody know it. He is very sweet natured, has lots of energy and wants for nothing except more adventures on his daily walks and doggy park visits to play with friends...
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
You can check the website and call for more details. Good luck!
Yes they do. If you are the owner, you can fill out the Surrender form online, www.azsmalldog.org. they do extensive background checks for anyone wants to adopt.
Not free....and the adoption fees will vary with the needs of the dog as well. If it's had medical attention prior to adoption that will be added to the fee.
Donny Breedlove, is free the Chihuahua? Because I want a Chihuahua
Is your little guy still avail.?
Their breed availability obviously changes over time but I encourage you to go for a visit...some of those rascals can steal your heart, I promise you! Gorj adopted Shneevan and they became a 🐐 combo!! Let's GOOOOOOOOOOO Ivan!!
I think so not sure I support all rescue places/dog kennels
Not for free but there are places that do but if u get a pet from there then they are and chipped
We do not at this time, but please check back as we get dogs accepted into the shelter daily.
Tuesday thru friday at 1102 W. Hatcher. Thank you so much!
The maltose was beautiful!! Wish was cheaper+
It depends on the type of dog and the size. Most prices are $250 and up. Have a nice day from Gorj and Al!(Jorge Flaik).
I'm not sure they can run anywhere from $75 on up you just have to call and ask look on their website find one you like and then ask him about it and they'll tell you
Yes you can take him there.
All dogs have an adoption fee that helps cover medical treatment such as spaying, neutering, vaccinations, etc. You would need to call the shelter to find a specific breed or mix. The shelter staff would know all animals that are available and their fees.
I believe so.
I have a female Yorke that needs a good home she is about 7 years old and need some dental work
The shelter has whatever small breed that is brought to them, you would have to watch their web site weekly for updates. Cost varies base on size, age, and breed.
You come in and complete an adoption application. Then visit with our dogs and find the one you can't live without! Then we have you complete the adoption contact. If everything looks good and you pay the adoption fee. You have a new bestie!! You can view the application and the contract on our website.
The small animal shelter on Hatcher is the best place to take the poor dog. They are a no kill and have foster homes to care for it until they can find a home.
Yes, get in contact with them. Please don't take him to the pound!!
My little one was 300. She's the perfect new edition to our family.
Are you trying to rehome or have a rescue intake them? Please fill out an owner surrender form. Then call w days later and see if they have room.
They do not have free dogs. They are a non-profit no kill shelter and it is expensive. You should want to pay for a dog. If you can't afford a dog, how will you afford dog food, vet care etc. If you watch the county MCACC they do have free dogs during certain times.
Contact azhartt.org (Humane Arizona Rescue and Trap Team) since the dog is loose. Then a rescue can be found
On their website, they have volunteer class that is about an hour at the rescue. Once you do that, you can sign up to volunteer!! They also always need fosters. I foster for them.
They need the money for support.
Sorry I did not know this sooner. I could jot get a dog from Az. Small dog rescue as they said I needed a fenced in yard. I finally got a terrific dog from Sun Valley. I canjot tell you how impressed I was with that shelter. Beautiful place and terrific staff. If you do not find a home this is the shelter that really takes care of the animal Another is Chihuahua Dog Rescue.
Yes they do take the small furry ones lol. Giving them a call and listening to the automated prerecorded line will give you an ear full of requirements to do so. Having a pen and paper handy will also be useful. I hope this helps and a home is found for the dog.
I dealt with tikiblackdog.org. Her name is Jan. I adopted two fullbred Chihuahuas. She may be able to help. Tell her Jerry sent you.
Interested in a young Yorkie that needs a home.
No..no male no pups..
They aren't all the same price. It depends on their age and the amount of medical they required. Contact AZ small dog rescue.
Yes, please submit a surrender form on the website. Thank you!
Go to azsmalldog.org and look through the dogs that are available for adoption.
Sometimes....u would really just have to check the website adoption page
Our fee;s range from $120 to $500, but most of the dogs are between $220 and $350
Sheshe if you go to their website you can see all their adoptable small dogs 😀 They have a poodle mix, and many of other "non Chihuahua" breeds.
Where can i find a tecup chihuhau
Please fill out a form at www.azsmalldog.org/surrender and we will see if we can help :) If we cant we will send you a list to many other no kill rescues to try as well.
You can go on their website. They list all of the puppies and dogs they have there.
No they don't. It's just small dogs. Try AZ Humane Society, or Animal Control.
You can always check their website or visit their the location to look at the dogs that ate available.
With covid, I believe yes now. Call first would be best.
Notify animal control if it has been a long time.
I only saw dogs at this location.
They update their available dogs on their website every week (Monday) as well.
You'll have to check their website. They update it weekly on Mondays and occassionally during the week.
Unfortunately im away from my home until novrmber. My house sitter can not take on any more animsls. Good luck.
They take in dogs all the time. If they're full or can't take in they will refer to other places
They do have a relatively high rate of turnover though, so if you don't see a puppy that you like just keep checking!
That I cannot answer; however, there are pictures and descriptions on their website of all available dogs.
No. Most of the dogs are small (under 30lbs)
Yes. $200
Please have your friend call the rescue. They will take the puppy
Yes, we take owner surrenders. Please fill out our online surrender request at www.azsmalldog.org/surrender and we will be in contact. There is not a mandatory surrender fee, but a donation is welcomed.
Not sure. Give them a call.
Fill out surrender form online and if accepted let the shelter vet her and find her a good home.
Yes, you can.
Maybe Midwestern University animal clinic. 59th Ave South of the 101
Im not sure but a dog is a dog I dont think they would turn him away if he or she is in need.
Dont go to halo they lye
Look i took in some strays and was trying to find homes for them and sadly i haven't been able to so i think a shelter would be better
They do not pay you. They handle all vet costs and re-home your pet. They are amazing!
They take in mistreated animals.
Call the shelter and they will tell you if they have seen or heard of him. Good luck
They do! You're better off asking this on their FB page.
Call them and see what they say.
Call and ask them
Or even check their website and the rescues and then you can look at available dogs or cats that they have write down their number of the animal and column tomorrow and they will be able to tell you how much it would be and a lot of it is already included their shots are included already microchipping is included sometimes you get starter dog food forum so that's what I would do and that's what I did to get my poodle
Hey you haven't run into any I don't know sorry I wish I could help
They took My Chihuahua a few months ago. They were so kind. They even gave me an update on her progress.
You go in and see the dogs and if you want one you fill out the application, the fee depends on the dog and is listed with the dog's info on their website usually.
Yeah Arizona small dog Rescue is the perfect place. They will taks wonderful care of them
Hello Kim, What Breed are they? since we have a male Shih Tzu and poodle mix.
Do you still have the dog? Where are you located? Looking for one for my grandson who is 8
Call Arizona small dog rescue
Yes they do if they are under the small dog size.
You can bring him over
Yes, this is the main purpose which is to find loving homes to all small dogs brought into the shelter.
Please call them. They have a wide selection of precious little ones waiting for home :)
They are always in need of volunteers and fosters....
You would need to call the facility or go to their web site.
Looking for small poodle mix to adopt
I'm sure they would. I don't know if they practice euthanasia.
I would call the small animal shelter so that they can explain to you and the family the guidelines that are in place for those wishing to adopt a small breed from them. We have been fostering dog for the small animal shelter for over a year and was amazed and impressed on how detailed of an interview they go through with those wishing to adopt from them. They are very serious to who they allow to adopt a rescued dog. The cost for the adoption of one of there dogs are not cheap. Which is good because it prevents just anybody from adopting the dogs who are not serious in providing a loving home. Maybe this would help in their decision to place their dog with the shelter if they can no longer care for their small breed pet.
Sir, I have no idea what breeds are there, just
They mostly get Chihuahua mix breeds brought in, because that seems to be the most popular dog that some people allow to run around, in which they bring their pups to the shelter. However, since it is a rescue shelter for small breeds that is mostly what they have. Although with that being said we did foster a full bred Siberian Husky pup from the shelter, that someone brought in because they didn't have the time to spend with it because they are very active dogs. I would suggest to just keep looking on there web site to watch for the type of small breed dogs that are up for adoption or go to there shelter once a week to check out the dogs that they have but jyst aren't quite ready for adoption.
I'm sorry that happened to your friends. Arizona Small Dog Rescue does not remove dogs from homes.
We currently have a 5yr old Yorkie available for adoption named King Tut. We have a few terrier mixes as well that are low shed. Check out our website to see the dogs information and pics, or visit our facebook page. Website: www.azsmalldog.org Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pg/arizonasmalldogrescue/photos/?ref=page_internal (click see all to see all of the albums as each dog has their own photo album)
Great question, but I dont believe they'll just come and get them. But if they were dropped off because they were lost or got out......
The do ask for a $50 donation, which is only fair
If they have room they may take them go on their website and fill the form out
You will have to go see all of the great dogs there they are so so busy but. Am sure if they don't have what your looking for am sure you can find in your heart to help a puppy who needs a good home
Check in the lobby of AZ Small dog, they have items available there as well. Also try swip swap on Facebook or the Nextdoor app.
The Az humane society on Hatcher has hamsters, gerbils, bunnies, etc. I think there's also a Petco organization that adopts surrendered small pets. Good.luck!
I would check the website or call
am willing to adopt your teacup senior Chihuahua. Can you bring him/her to my home? I'm homebound and will take good care of it for as long as it lives.
As some others have posted their is no fee to surrender them to the Arizona Small Animal Shelter.
There is no direct fee but they ask for a donation to help take care of the dogs - as a suggestion only, since groups like this get so little funding, I would advise a minimum of $25
Contact them and explain your situation. Also, let everyone you know that you are looking for a loving home for them. Somebody might know someone who would love to take them. Best of luck to you and the little doggies.
They also have a Facebook page that displays some of the dogs that are available and also ones that will be at the adoption locations.
All kinds of dogs can be found here. I found my little furbaby Sweetie here. She is a poodle mix.
You can try other rescues, like Rotten Rottie Rescue. They don't have to be purebred but may not have room. They're the only Rottie Rescue in AZ.
I believe I went online and got a coupon for VCA or VGA for a free visit and 200 bucks worth of medicine and saved my babys life from parvo. As far as the vet recommended by AZSDR theres a fecal test thats either positive or negative... It either is or it isnt.
At least 10 years old. Volunteers between 10-17 years need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No volunteers under age 10 are allowed.
they have puppies but call ahead
The youngest dogs are not kept in the shelter but are fostered and put up for adoption (only after their shots and when they are healthy) at adoption events or check the website.
You can download a volunteer application from the website and you can call to find out when the next orientation is. There is always something to do such as dog socialization, dog walking. You can eventually foster! What I like best is that there are no pre-assigned shifts. I can come in when my schedule allows.
Get to a vet immediately.
Different dogs come into and get adopted out of AZSDR all the time. The best advice is to visit and see. If they don't have your new best friend this week, they may next week!
I think so# give them a call :)
