After several phone calls, and sending an email, I finally got a response two weeks later; telling me to apply for a pet from their web page. I found a cat at a different rescue by that time. Looking for a cat to adopt has been aggravating.

I tried to inquire about adopting a cat from ABC. I sent two emails, a questionnary and left a voicemail. No response whatsoever. This shelter's website states that they do not return phone calls and they did not. Also, they state that the shelter us closed to the public. But the link to donate the money is the first one you see on their website. I am sorry, but my experience with ABC raises question about the legitimacy of the business to ask for donations. Do you guys even exist as a shelter?

I agree with the others If they do not want to adopt there dogs out to me then tell me don't ignore it is not that hard to send an email out. They say they are at capacity and can't take anymore dogs. i wonder why? Wait they don't communicate or attempt to adopt out there dogs or cats. My next step is to notify pet finder that the are not interested in finding homes for the animals at their facility. It is sad what a horrible way to do business

My experience was first class. From the home check, to the meet and greet, to introducing my current dog to the potential rescue (which was supervised and facilitated by a trainer) - everything was first class. I see some poor reviews, and it baffles me. ABC's #1 priority seems to be doing right by the animals, as it should be. Finding the right home, for the right animal - that's what it's all about. I'll be an ambassador for life, as well as a potential adopter.

Yes

Do you ever adopt to out if state folks? Obviously, the home visit is kind of hard to do on this case..

I am not sure if they currently do this; the adoption process includes home visits, meet and greets with your new furry friend, and foster time before the official adoption process is finalized (which does require a signature). Where are you located? I can inquire for you!

Do they allow 12 year olds to volunteer?

Yes 12 year olds can volunteer with supervision/adults. You need to register as their volunteer and take a session before you can volunteer. They will explain the safely (of animal First) and will walk you thru the facility. People here are Super nice so it will be a great experience. I moved to Mesa so I can't visit them regularly but its a great place. Here is the last email I received from them which states its no more public but volunteers are welcomed. Effective today ABC will no longer be open to the public. Our adoption has been updated to reflect this change, adoption visits will be scheduled by appointment only. Volunteers are still welcome during regular hours and your scheduled shifts. Please ring bell to be let in.
