Modern showers, clean bathrooms, multiple playgrounds, large shaded beach and hiking trails. Bar far our kid's favorite place so far.

Very nice North Dakota State Park for camping and outdoor activities. There are enough hiking trails to keep you busy on a two or three-day stay. Also lots of hiking nearby at Pembina Gorge. State park is very well maintained and while there is not a lot of privacy between sites, presumably due to its remote location it was not crowded at all. There were two or three empty sites between us and the next camper in either direction. There is also an excellent heritage center attached to the office with lots of information about the Park and the surrounding area. There are several historic buildings on site that you can tour and a museum across the highway from the park as well although we did not have a chance to visit that. Another positive aspect regarding the remote location is that the night sky is very visible with so many more stars than you see when you are closer to a large population center. The towns that we visited nearby where Cavalier North Dakota which is just a short jaunt to the east and Walhalla North Dakota about a 30 minute drive west and north. All in all it's well worth the 3-hour drive from my home.

Sure it's pretty and all but make sure you look closely at the map. Our campground neighbor was so close that there was hardly any privacy. They also decided upon themselves to let their dog make use of our site with little regard. We might return but the only good side was seeing trees. Thanks but no thanks.

Beautiful park, truly a ND secret gem. The facilities are great and very clean. Great well kept museum. We had a very enjoyable, relaxing time there. Highly recommend this time of year. Fall foliage is gorgeous!
