Great place to go hiking! Feels more like hiking vs Starved Rock. It’s easy to get off the trails. You can use stepping stones to get across the creek. Nice waterfalls but they’re not tall waterfalls. Be careful after a rainfall because the trails can get really squishy. Lots of natural eroded rocks, canyons, trees, streams.

The place is beautiful and it is not much crowded. Also, it remains clean and serene. My only regret is that I didn't come in winter to see how this place will look when it is under snow. It is not faraway from Chicago and is a mere 2 hours ride. If anyone loves hiking, this is the place where you want to be :)

As much as I don't want to share this beautiful place with even more people, it wouldn't be fair to those who have yet to visit! This stunning park is just minutes off the exit and welcomes you with the most peaceful views. Hiking down into the Canyons, taking in every hidden gem, it's easy to spend the entire day wandering through the trails. There is a trail for everyone. Put this one on your list!

Great park for hiking and scenery , we only spent 3 hours here so I couldn't unlock all the beauty in this park . I think there are too many stairs tho , I don't mind climbing but be mindful if you are not a fan of climbing stairs!!! I am looking forward to return to hike longer and capture more pictures and definitely find the sunflower field.

i got married here in the waterfalls by the lake shelter..i wore water shoes..we didnt invite alot of people..just us and 4 friends and a hippy to legalize it for us..last tuesday was 8 yrs..
One road past the entrance to the park, its a mini airplane (remote control) area.
If you go into the lower more scenic area they will probably get muddy. There's few areas have to cross little stream also.
Yes and probably
Parking is free and in my experience, always available.
https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/closures/pages/CurrentclosuresOfDNRSitesAndAreas.aspx has all the closures for parks in the state
Yes at the far south entrance way in the back to the west by the RC airfield!
There are stoller friendly trails but you won't be able to go down to the waterfall with a stoller. Beautiful place definitely worth a visit.
