The Philly PD gun permit division has been great over the years. I must have renewed my permit about 6 times and they've been instrumental. You might be intimidated but there's no need. The new online app is extremely fast, like 10 days. It used to take anywhere from 4 to 10 weeks. Not too often the government gets more efficient but they did here. Thanks.

No. I have contacted them through email and was told to simply keep calling. I brought it to the attention of my state representative and will see what they advise. My permit renewal was approved in the spring and I still have not been able to make it through to somebody to pick it up.

State Law is Misdemeanor 1 and Above. On the rear of the Application there is a list of Offensives that prohibit someone from obtaining a PA License to Carry.

Yes but if the felon is caught with your gun, you are automatically a straw purchaser .(Google that⤴️) sad part is statically, most straw purchaser are women and depending on the relationship, you may get denied anyway.

"UPDATE: September 20, 2020
The Pennsylvania State Police announced that Governor Tom Wolf has granted an extension to license to carry firearms permits. Permits expired on March 19, 2020 or later have been extended to December 31, 2020. The extension is necessary because some sheriff's departments have been unable to conduct the necessary background investigations for license to carry renewal applications during the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic." from PPD-LTC.com
Why can't you take the application to the pa state police since they're the ones doing the background check? And why can't you drop off your application or do it by mail, email or fax like Montgomery county pa does?
Herbert James | Oct 19, 2020
Richard Brehant | Oct 19, 2020
You have to apply in the county that you reside in. There is an interview process and fingerprints to be taken, so you can't apply by mail, fax or email.

The Unit has been closed for 4 months so the phons are ringing of the hook, there are people answering the phones. From 8:30a to 2:00p you just have to keep trying.
Come to the Unit with your updated ID. You are not required to update the physical permit. If you still reside in Philadelphia and wish to change it on the permit the is a $25.00 fee.

I think you can but not sure. Couple months ago I was pulled over but I wasn't carrying. When the cops Run my Driver License they figured out I'm "Licence to Carry Firearms". They came to me and asking about my license, my gun and why I didn't tell them. That's why I think you can carry
They should be, but since it's the day after the holiday the mite be close.....
Normal hours are M-F 8:30am - 1pm....
They best than I can tell you is to call down there tomorrow to get their business hours for Thanksgiving week.
Where do I go to transfer a licensed gun to another person
Not unless you need to prove citizenship. My advice bring everything they could possibly ask for and more. They denied mine because they couldn't understand dates on a military pay stub and I've used another name. Needless to say, I fixed everything in a second visit, but I live out of state and their hours aren't the best. The application doesn't cover every possible circumstance.
Just wondering how much does it cost to get gun liscence here i wanna be able to conceal my weapon so it can only be seen if it is nessacary to defend my life. I will be using it to protect myself and my monies ffrom gain full

Philadelphia County does not issue Sportsman Licenses. They are issued by the city/county Treasury Office, so you will have to contact one of the surround counties.

John Kapral | Oct 20, 2018
Richard Brehant | Oct 20, 2018
You must have a permit in the state that you reside before obtaining a PA permit. Seeing that you have a LEOSA permit it is not necessary to have a permit issued by PA.
You don't have to go through the whole process. You can come here and show your updated driver's license and we will update your records. If you wish to have the address changed on your LTC there is a cost of $25.00. It is not required to make the change on the LTC.
