Even though the hotel was undergoing renovations, it was not an inconvenience at all. Breakfast staff was very efficient and hospitable. Check in staff was very helpful with our special requests/needs. Couldn't ask for a better location! Right across the street from a beautiful stretch of pure white, soft sandy beach, plus outdoor showers and public restrooms. Easy access to restaurants... walking distance. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful hotel! Roy at the front desk was very personable and kind, and was able to upgrade us to a water facing room and the 3rd floor. Elizabeth runs an impeccable breakfast area, and goes out of her way to ensure everyone has a great experience. Our room was very clean and spacious, and was newly renovated to provide the comforts of home. We were very pleased with the free kayaks and paddle boards, as well as the private beach on the bay. The location is perfect for easy Gulf access, and is in walking distance of Sandshaker's and Flounders. Will definitely book again in the future!

Stayed with my children last minute on the way home in January 2022. Yes, this is an older establishment, but it is an affordable family option for an on beach stay. It’s VERY family oriented and they are flexible with timing. In the beach area you can check out kayaks and paddle boards that they’ll even teach you to use. Unfortunately it stormed during our stay so we didn’t get to try it. Above their private beach is a sandy area with games and toys for kids to play along with a regular swimming pool. They have a tiny gift shop area with tees and beach stuff etc. The breakfast was a nice, hot, fresh breakfast which is hard to come by since Covid. The staff was absolutely amazing, especially the woman that does the breakfasts! Overall this was a great place to stay and we’ll definitely be back if given the opportunity. Just don’t be expecting a lush 4 or 5 star hotel. There are plenty of those in the area. This is a hidden gem that’s great for families that want to stay on the beach. The amenities and staff make up for the rooms. Others mentioned bugs and broken things in their rooms, but we didn’t have problems with either.

Only stayed a short while wished it could have been longer. Location is incredible a short walk to everything. Gulf and bay access, really great pool area with private beach, fire pit, and games, bicycles available for a local pedal. The pier and gulf are a stones throw. The room was super clean and well appointed with all the standard fare fridge, coffee, iron etc, extra comfy beds and clean bathroom with nice quality towels and linens. The continental breakfast was outstanding I have paid good money for a breakfast not nearly as good! Prepared by Elizabet it was obvious she took great pride in her work, she prepared the wife and I delicious fresh waffles she is an asset and rare find in service today! There were also mini omelettes, sausage, all types of beverages juices and milks and of course coffee! I highly recommend the Surf and Sand and hope to return soon!
