We really liked it here. The rooms in the main house could use some love. Moldy bathroom edges and ceilings. The camping areas were very nice and spacious.

The location is wonderful for this campground however the safety and cleanliness were a major disappointment. We stayed in a deluxe cabin and were shocked at how absolutely filthy the floors were, I don’t think they had ever been washed with how black our feet were. We washed them with towels because we have a baby whose crawling and it was absolutely disgusting how much filth came off. Also the heater in the main area had exposed wires and metal hanging off of it. The worst however was the extreme amount of cockroaches that were inside and outside our cabin, an extremely unexpected guest. The damprid that they had on top of the cabinets to help with moisture was overflowing and filled with mold as well. The playground was a cool feature however my two year old was definitely not safe playing on it as it has loose boards, nails sticking out and one of the gates near the main road had been taken off. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. We’ve stayed in many campgrounds and hotels and never have we experienced such lack of cleanliness especially somewhere geared towards families.

We stayed in a "deluxe" cabin with our granddaughters. Our youngest discovered an open junction box on the electric baseboard, the floors were dirty, the bathroom fan was inoperative and there were cockroaches everywhere. I was not impressed by management's concerns over my complaints. I wouldn't recommend staying in the cabins.

Could be great, but very poorly maintained. We've stayed at many KOA's, and this was the dirtiest and most run down one we've stayed at. Pros: Great location, beautiful beach with easy access, staff was friendly. Great park across the road on the sound side to watch the sunset at. Cons: very poorly maintained, and generally dirty. For example, not one single laundry machine was working when we were there. The bathroom was covered in sand, and the showers clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time - very single one leaked, and was in need of repair. Showers by the beach to wash sand off were filthy, and clearly hadn't been touched in a long time. Also, I feel like they nickel and dime you here - we got charged $20 per night for our 3rd kid, and $25 when we needed to check out 30 minutes late so I could be on a zoom meeting for work. In short, it's thoroughly ok. We tried staying here for something new, and when we come back next time, we'll stay next door at Camp Hatteras again - I'd encourage you to do the same.

Yep... but you could just call them! ... and they'd answer your next question... "How much?" 😁
Yes, but have not seen published rates. If interested in season they would love to talk to you as work camper.
Yes they are open year-round in the fall the rates are lower it is less crowded and the fishing is good
No pool is not heated but jacuzzi is heated
No they have normal fridges
No, only a few sites have sewer connections. They offer a pumping service for a fee.
They do but they put rvs and campers rite next to u on the grass not much space
I'm a visitor there, but we the ok two dogs (upcharge) in that same week 2 years ago, and again this spring. Cabins are specific for dogs. Don't know the rates though. Their website should be helpful.
Not with an adult who is under 16 and has a parent with a license
The Campground is on the Ocean or surf side but if you cross the street to the soundside you can kitesurf there. Allot of people launch from Kitty Hawk Kites Waves Village which is a quarter mile down the road, there's a kiteboarding school there and surely other kiteboarders in the yard launching that can offer assistance. You can start at the kiteboarding school and end at the Koa's sound side directly across the street from the Koa. There's no better place to kitesurf!!
Not sure there would be enough room. If there is, I'm sure you could put up a small tent with no issues.
You might be able to get a tent site. Then you can use the showers.
Absolutely! Just make sure you lock your vehicles at night, as while it is a quiet place, there's always the potential for theives. We enjoyed the hell out of it there. Great beach access, good parking and facility, great staff and well kept grounds. Went surf fishing and relaxing all week- great spot to decompress!! There's also good restaurants and supplies nearby. Great fishing down the road at the seawall on the beach at Cape Hatteras lighthouse park....
Check the online site or call the Koa for questions
Not in the area near the campground. You will have to go to special vehicle areas. You will also have to buy a vehicle beach pass.
Do not think they rent RV units.
Just rental cars from island hoppers,65 a day.cheaper if you keep them longer....
The main building with hotel-style rooms does have an elevator and they have cabins with wheelchair accessible ramps.
Call the campground office I'm not an employee.
They are allowed in RV sites
No
The number listed is what they have. Leave a message. They will get back to you. For some reason they're terrible at answering the phone
Call and ask.
Yes you can rent golf carts, but two for all you need them for.
They have sewer connections at many if not all sites. They also have two easily accessed dump stations at the exit. I did not see a honey wagon while I was there, but then again with a sewer hookup you don't need it.
Yes
Yes, but not worth the extra money, we were one row away from the beach, had fire ring, sound of the ocean, and cheaper nightly rate.
Bring own with proof of insurance or will refer to approved lessor.
You can get a site with electric and water and just put a tent up that is allowable.
How about a water spigot for camping cabins like to wash dishes or rinse off things
Yes you are able to park long-term either in the campground area for routine use or in storage. Just call their office.
Most stays are by those that are traveling. Either via net or by phone you can verify availability and reserve for particular dates and check type of site you want.
I would agree with Alyssa, they might take a reservation over the phone on legit card.
End of September 2016 was upper 70's low 80's Last September 2017 was cooler, mid 60's to mid 70's 2016 was just before a hurricane passed near. 2017 was just after a hurricane hit directly.
Wait till later September. Kids are in school. Less busy then.
The pool and hot tub are open all year,7days, from 9am to dusk
Depends on weather conditions. Pool is not heated.
Concur contact koa directly for reservations. Suspect readily available as tourist season ends labor day weekend.
