Absolutely! Just make sure you lock your vehicles at night, as while it is a quiet place, there's always the potential for theives. We enjoyed the hell out of it there. Great beach access, good parking and facility, great staff and well kept grounds. Went surf fishing and relaxing all week- great spot to decompress!! There's also good restaurants and supplies nearby. Great fishing down the road at the seawall on the beach at Cape Hatteras lighthouse park....
We have stayed at both KOA and the campground right next to it. They're both very good. You're not exactly camping on beachfront as the dunes are between your camper and the water but pretty much everything is a quick walk to the beach. They do tend to get flooded so central spots closer to the office might be better if heavy rains are expected. Otherwise if you have a smaller camper the northeast corner is good of the campground. If you have a bigger camper we tend to just stay in one of the center locations of the campground. If you're looking for other good real beach front campgrounds Camp Gulf down in Florida is one of the nicer ones we've stayed.
We do not have an RV but we do enjoy this campground . It is centrally located between Kitty hawk and cape Hatteras. There are several local restaurants shopping and attractions in either direction from this location. They offer several activities on site if you have children and miles of beach to walk on.
