This place is well organized with pleasant, respectful employees.. they have it where you may only have 5 - 15 minute wait, depending on the time of day. I had to go there 2 days in a row with less than a 5 min., wait at 0900 in the morning.
Antoinette Crawford
Was in and out within 15 minutes. The staff was very helpful and courteous.

It would be nice if the public was notified when these offices shut down due to weather. It's not even raining. Dozens of people are showing up and leaving thinking it is normal business. Very unprofessional.
Terri Sanders
Fast and definitely had the best customer service.

You need the title transferred to you. Or it still legally belong to the seller.
Every thing has to be cleared up before a lien can be released. Fines, loans, anything that's against the tag has to be clear up
Many service are available online including renewal and starting title transfer
How much is regisstation for car in Georgia
Only if you have a military spouse id
It depends on whether you purchased the vehicle from a Georgia dealer or from an out-of-state dealer. If you purchased it from a Georgia dealer, you may bring the buyer's order/purchase agreement and your GA driver's license/ID to one of our office locations and one of our registration experts will check the status to see if it's ready for a license plate to be issued. If it's not ready, our office may be able to extend the original 45-day temporary tag received from the dealer. If it's an out-of-state dealer, please contact the dealer to check on the status and request a temporary tag extension to be overnighted to you.
The system primarily shows vehicles you currently have registered, but may also show vehicles that you've sold or transferred but never cancelled the registration on, vehicles you've traded in but the dealer still has not sold yet, or vehicles you've sold or transferred but the purchaser or transferee never titled or registered themselves. You'd have to physically go into a tag office location and provide positive ID before getting any of this info.
Yes, you can get a tag on the vehicle, however the requirements vary based on the specific situation regarding the estate of the deceased owner. It's best to visit one of our tag office locations and see a title expert who will take the time to answer all of your questions and even give you the answers in writing on a checklist explaining the required documents. You can visit our website at tax.chathamcountyga.gov to view wait times and even schedule an appointment to skip the wait.
Keep it if you plan on getting another. If not turn in to tag office inside or to their drop box. Don't put it where anyone else can get it.
Should be..try.
Yes Georgia State taxes
Apply for replacement title with your local tag office. Must present valid identification of all owners listed on vehicle and owners must be present to sign title application. Replacement title fee is $8 per vehicle.
Yes because you're up to date. Just go up to the tag office and pay the $1.00 replacement fee for a new physical copy.
If you're going to transfer your old plate to the new car, keep the license plate.
Specialty tags are mailed out from Atlanta, they aren't carried at the tag offices. Also, you would still need to provide the specialty tag request form and supporting documents (DD214).
Just report it to the Tag Office as lost.
No, the Chatham county tag office is located off of Eisenhower Drive and Waters avenue.
No. It needs to the insurance binder dated within 2 weeks or call your insurance company and ask them to send the info to Georgias online insurance system.
Um not too sure about title itself, but if the county on your license plate doesn't match the address you live at and have on your license they could give you a hard tine about that, I had to update my address on my license before they would allow me to renew registration earlier this year.
No, it will sent in the mail to you by the lienholder.
Once the Title is in your name, you have 30 days. Just for your safety, do it asap.
No one else can register a vehicle at the tag office because the person that is on the title have to be present with their driver's license their proof of insurance and any other paper work questions they could have for the buyer of the car.
I was told four to six weeks to come from Atlanta; however my process was one day shy of 2 weeks.
They have limited staff there due to Covid-19. Just keep calling. Or go online to www.georgia.dds.com and make an appointment to get whatever you need. Going online is the quickest way these days.
Usually you need to mail the plates with form SCDMV FORM 452 back to department SCDMV PLATE TURN-IN PO BOX 1498 BLYTHEWOOD, SC 29016-0024
Yes it is. Only a few people at a timw
Yes, they only a few people in a time. Be prepared to stand outside for a little bit and must have mask Also two lines. One is for title registration and other is for tag renewal or replacement sticker
Take your title to office. Transfer to GA title. Register car at same time. Pay ad valorum fee of 3% of car value.
Call them first. It's often a lot of things and sometimes they make you go back to the dealer. Best to call first so you don't waste time going out there
A power of attorney but they still may not do it. You have to go yourself . Call them first
I'm not sure about that. Give them a call
Call police and they will inform you on what to do
You're going to lose your money if you do buy. That's a scam. You'll never get ownership of the car. No. You can't buy from someone who doesn't have a title. Car may also be stolen. Or have a bank loan against title which may be why seller doesn't have it.
You mean TAVT. You don't have to call. Need VIN https://eservices.drives.ga.gov/_/
If the seller only signed the title and didn't put the date of sale then practically speaking you have until whenever you want. Lol
They make you apply for a GA title, is their a loan on the car? You'll have to pay TAVT tax. Online is the estimated tax by using the vin, bring proof of residence, ID. Georgia department of revenue website has information
Will get new tag, title needs to be signed by owner on the title , you, and buyer, daughter. Beware gift taxes, check TAVT taxes as that will be due. I wouldn't transfer. I'd just let her drive it and insurance for her.
The signed title, id and take a piece of resent mail (pay statement) and social security card with your insurance declaration page. Some of the ladies are sweet others that work in this office not so much.
Same day
It all depends what the value of the vehicle is, give them a call, they will be happy to help you.
You turn it in so it's not in your name anymore
I don't think they do....
I went at 10am and went right up to the counter. The tag office seems to move faster than the DMV.
Until 4.00
You need to go in and ask an agent directly.
No this will be a new purchase
I think all they need is a bill of sale and tag registration call the tag office they are always willing to help
Make model and transfer state fees
Depends on what type of vehicle, year, and make. If you're a vet you can get it for free if you served during war time. there's a flat rate of $20.00 If you didn't and the same if you registered your spouse's vehicle under you.
Go down to the DMV office on Eisenhower and talk to the people and let them know that your license suspended and how much you have to pay to get him back
Vehicle must meet the states minimum requirements for a classic tag when trying to switch
The cost is under $20 for 8 years or so.
Id, insurance,
Google Chatham County Tag Office for hours. I think they are open Mon thru Fri.
I don't work there, and wouldn't know.
