We got there at 3:55. Check in is at 3. They said the room wasn’t ready. The lady at the front t desk had to physically search the hotel for housekeeping to ask when it would be ready. 15 mins later they said it would be a half hour more. We said that was ok. We would just go to the pool. They said we couldn’t (although it’s advertised) because it hasn’t passed inspection yet. So I asked to cancel. I have since found out I was charged $170 for a cancellation fee, which I will dispute when I return home.

Stayed 3 nights. Very clean and up to date. Complimentary breakfast was ok. Staff was happy and helpful. Enjoyed my time there and would stay again.

I was expecting to give a superior review, but that wasn’t our experience. I found the room and property clean and the staff was friendly. The beds were comfortable and the room was nice. Breakfast was not great but I hadn’t expected it to be - basic high carb, low quality food but for many it would probably be adequate. The coffee was good. Our issue was that the room was never cleaned during our 3 night stay. I was surprised to find the room hadn’t been cleaned when we returned from our outing on day 2 and was told it must be requested. Surprised, I requested it, but no one came. Perhaps the desk thought the fresh towels they had given me was enough. It wasn’t. The next morning, I again requested that someone come to clean the room. When we arrived back in the evening it had not been cleaned. Again, the front desk gave me towels and two large plastic bags to empty the overflowing trash containers from our takeout food the night before and for the dirty towels which I left outside the door. It was late and we had been out the entire day and though we wanted the room cleaned it was after 7 pm and we wanted showers and some quiet more. One of the key benefits of staying in a hotel, at least for me, is that you don’t have to clean the room yourself. The person at reception was very nice and said he would speak to the general manager, but that since I had purchased the room through a third party, he didn’t know if anything could be done. I never heard a thing from the general manager … not even an apology. I hadn’t asked for anything, but I didn’t know that purchasing through a 3rd party, Hotwire, meant I wouldn’t get service. If that’s the case, I will stay elsewhere and you should too.
First trip since pandemic
After having driven across country, the long way, and staying in a week's worth of Holiday Inn Express hotels, this was probably my nicest experience. I was worried initially because when I went up to my room, the card keys did not work. But I took them back down and they immediately switched my room and everything was perfectly fine after that. One major point is that everyone at the front desk was dressed professionally, they were training a couple of new hires and making sure they understood they should be aware of the people coming into their hotel. They were all very pleasant, nice and helpful. They even joked with me. The morning staff was exactly the same, professional and pleasant! I did not have breakfast, so have no input on that. But it smelled nice as I came down the elevator.

Our hotel does offer a Duke Medical rate. When you call to make your reservation, just let the front desk know that you are coming for a medical appointment. We also offer a complimentary medical shuttle service that will take you to and from your appointments.
