This bus company driver left my son sleeping in bus in bus parking!!lady who was supposed to be there didn’t notice kid and left home after I called police and driver found my son and drove to home alone! I had apple airtag location tracker in his backpack thanks god !!

my 10 yrs old son is getting home 3hrs after dismissal. the bus drives past our neighborhood twice and doesn't drop him off until the end. i've called every single day and nothing is changing. the bus company gives me misinformation and tells me it's the office of pupil transportation issue to resolve. OP just files the complaint but takes no action. this is awful!

On September 14, 2022 my son came home with a knot on his forehead I called the Rosaw What had happened Rosa doesn’t speak good Englishis not good at all so she told me to repeat myself so the bus driver asked what happened I asked you what occur on yesterday which was it September 14 2022 I asked him what happened with my son because when he got the bus he had a knot on his forehead he told me he didn’t know what happened maybe happened at school I called the school and ask him what happened with my son did you get hurt on the playground they told me they did nothing happen with my son at school and they make reports where the situation occur with kids with accidents I called a bus service company spoke to Christopher what is the supervisor explain to him what happened he said he will reach out to his colleague defined out what happened and I said to him do you think going to tell you the truth Christopher continue to say that he ever respond back to me I haven’t received any response back and the sad part about this your on the bus thinking they will be safe and trun around and they are being miss treated and all the reviewers from Parents about the bus service is not good at all and no one cares it’s time for me to stand together as parents for a ride fly kids and protest so I can be a change I will be seeking legal action if no one returns a call back

It doesn’t matter how many time u report to opt or speak to the router the lateness still continues. Y’all need to get rid of OPT their no help at all.
The bus company would be at fault. Had a company do this with my child when ahe was 3 they had no idea what bus she was on. Her routed bus driver kept denying she was on his bus. 245. 3 pm drop off turned into 640pm. She was 3. Not potty trained non verbal autism. I called the company and told them if they didnt return my child i was calling the cops on them for kidnapping.The bus driver pulled a block down the street. Refused to open his door. So i syarted yelling at him to give me my child. He called the company to say i was being meen to him. Atthat point i told him yes send the cops cause you will need it. If you dont give me my kid im going to flip the bus and drag you out of it and give you a reason to fear me. Refused to put her back with that driver. They fired the matrin blaming her. The lady 6 months later called me asking me to be a witness to her unemployment suit. I was furious. You had my number to call me for this but not 6 months ago to let me know where my kid was? 😡

Does he take a bus specifically for children with special needs? If so, the bus is supposed to pull up directly in front of the residence and the matron is supposed to assist him. Parents are not allowed to enter the bus with their child so matron's job is to ensure that the children are seated and buckled in safely BEFORE the bus pulls off. You will need to call Opt to explain to them what the matron told you about bringing your grandson with CP to the corner. That doesn't sound right, and most often, these matrons and drivers are inept. They are only in the bus driving business to get paid; some of them could care less about the kids. Also, your grandchild might need a Para that could help him to get on and off the bus, and assist with walking him to where he needs to get after getting off of the bus. For that, you should speak with his IEP team to inquire.

The city council has since voted to change policy were kids no longer get half fare MetroCards but only fill fare MetroCards. Not sure when it goes into effect though.

Okay so now that we know families are STILL having bus issues what can we do about it? Hire more drivers right that's a solution but wait because of the mandate of being vaccinated a lot off people don't want to work. Yet we still want "OUR' children to be safe and healthy

No, all you have to do is call OPT and inform that agent that you want to stop bus service and the agent will inform the vendor. Also make sure you inform the school that you want bus service to stop.
You have to go to the school and see if he qualifies for one and if so they can give him one if they have if not they need to request more.
Will your be in Pre-K? Is your son of school age (K-6)? son be in general education or special education? If general education and your son is qualified for transportation than there will be an assigned stop to take him to and pick him up from. To find out more information go to schools.nyc.gov and look under transportation eligibility.

That's the type of work this office is supposed to handle. I don't know the procedure exactly. If the school in question is private, then I imagine you should speak to someone in school. If there problem still persists, I guess this office might be some place you could take your complaint. Or else, the department of education could address it, I'd think.
I am just a parent and unaware of the certifications of a matron. I'd just like to say, " If you care for the best interest of the children in your care, you will be ahead of the game. A smile and a good heart should be the prerequisite". Good luck to you!!!!!!!
