Does he take a bus specifically for children with special needs? If so, the bus is supposed to pull up directly in front of the residence and the matron is supposed to assist him. Parents are not allowed to enter the bus with their child so matron's job is to ensure that the children are seated and buckled in safely BEFORE the bus pulls off. You will need to call Opt to explain to them what the matron told you about bringing your grandson with CP to the corner. That doesn't sound right, and most often, these matrons and drivers are inept. They are only in the bus driving business to get paid; some of them could care less about the kids. Also, your grandchild might need a Para that could help him to get on and off the bus, and assist with walking him to where he needs to get after getting off of the bus. For that, you should speak with his IEP team to inquire.
Depends on the needs of the child. If they have Door to Door service the matron should get off the bus in the morning while the student gets on and the matron should escort the child to the school building and from the building to the bus.
My grandson has C.P. He walks with a limp and must hold on to something when going up and down the curb in order to keep his balance and prevent falling. Should the bus pull in front of the house and matron escort him? Or should his 78 yr. old gradma bring him to them? The matron said in response to my concern about winter weather, "someone has to bring him to corner."
They may have separate vehicle.. u call them fot more details
