If I could give 0 stars I would, and this place doesn't even deserve that. This is easily the worst place I've ever lived. They try to entice you with the utilities and heat and air built into the price, but don't fall for it. Either you'll be way too hot or freezing. My AC never works during the hot, sticky DC summers. My bedroom window also is sealed shut so I can't even get ventilation that way. Before I moved here, management was super engaging and responsive, but as soon as they handed me the keys it stopped. They literally did not even walk me to the apt to check out (and I had driven all the way out from WI just to do so). There are constantly roaches in my kitchen and bathroom, and management will say it's "thawing season" WHICH ISN'T A THING. This building has had at least five fires in the 15 months I've lived here and the last one almost killed me. My internal smoke alarms didn't go off and I woke up an HOUR after the fire had started to the smell of smoke. It took me longer to get out because the hallway exit signs were literally dangling by a wire from the ceiling. The front desk staff is the most incompetent people I've ever met- they gave away a bag of prescription medication that was sent to me from the local VA to another resident. EDIT: THEY ALSO ILLEGALLY WITHHOLD YOUR SECURITY DEPSOT! IT HAS BEEN OVER 180 DAYS AND THEY HAVE IGNORED MY REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO GET MY SECURITY DEPOSIT BACK WHICH IS IN VIOLATION OF DC CODE DO NOT RENT HERE.

Living here made me feel incredibly ill. You cannot control the heat or AC. AC turns on in the late spring and heat turns on in the fall. My apartment averaged about 80 degrees, facing north. The window opened to the highway, so it was deafening. It’s impossible to install a mini split AC unit due to the window design, and if you’re looking at this place for the price you wouldn’t want to anyway. No way to fix the temperature. Prepare for a landlord special when you move in. They also use CFL lights inside apartments, so I had to adapt them to LED lights just so my lights weren’t blue. The air vents in my apartment constantly spewed cigarette smoke. I felt sick more days than not while living here. I ended up moving out early for my own health. There was one last catch, though. This building structures it’s rent in a predatory way. The rent listed on the website includes a concession. On my lease, my rent was listed at about 40% higher than the website states, and then outside of the text of the lease the building offers a 40% concession. Ultimately you’re paying the rent listed on the website. But, if you want to move out early you have to pay back all of the concessions. Of course, subleasing is not allowed. For me, it was cheaper to pay out the rest of the lease than to pay back all of the concessions. Overall, the low rents of the building aren’t worth your health. Avoid.
