Huntsville Marriott at the Space & Rocket Center

I do not recommend this hotel unless you’re staying for the Rocket Center or if anywhere else is booked. When we got here, the staff was telling a man in front of me that “the system” canceled his reservation and that because it happened under 24 hours to his reservation, they were also charging him. He didn’t cancel, Marriott did but then charged him and told him they were booked. The way the manager and staff handled that situation was awful. They lost a customer for good with that interaction. In the room, it’s fine, no complaints other than the mirror light in the bathroom. We couldn’t figure out how to turn it off and the front desk didn’t know. Very annoying to have a light on in the middle of the night that we couldn’t turn off, especially with an infant trying to sleep. The room very humid and the floor will be wet because of humidity in the room. When we got up for breakfast, they gave us a voucher to use at the restaurant. We had to wait over 35 minutes for our coffee to be brought to us, I had to ask for it 3 times. Then we waited another 25 minutes for the food we ordered, it was terrible. My wife took 3 bites and didn’t even eat it, the grits and eggs were so bad. We wouldn’t even call it grits. I haven’t had a worse restaurant experience in a long long time. So unless you’re staying here for convenience to the rocket center, I wouldn’t advise staying here. I’m a platinum elite Marriott member, and I do not write negative reviewed unless they call for it, and this called for it.

Very nice hotel. Great location. Comfortable rooms. Only complaint is I checked in on Sunday and checked out on Friday and never had my room touched during the week. I questioned that at checkout and was told all I needed to do was request service. A hotel as nice as this should provide that service without request.

They remodeled it and now it's an upscale town place in my opinion. Not a fan of the cold vinyl room floors or the modern style furniture. The couch/loveseat is uncomfortable and short. No chair except for the office type chair. No microwave. Bathroom is shower only with the entry door at the wrong end. You must get wet to turn on the water and wait for the warm water to kick in or step over the toilet to get to the single lever on/off/temp. Can't say I'd go back to this Marriott.

Room was not as described or requested. We requested a king room with sofa. There was no sofa, just a small, uncomfortable chair, with no side table or ottoman. We informed the front desk, and the staff asked us to pack all our belongings and come back downstairs, and she would give us another room. the second room also did not have a sofa. The desk staff person said there was no one from housekeeping available to check other rooms, and that she would ask housekeeping to deal with it in the morning. Housekeeping did not come. We stopped by the front desk and asked to speak with the manager. We were told we had to wait for the manager to finish her daily staff meeting. Later in the day, we did see the manager, and she did have a sofa brought up to our room. The next morning, we called to ask for our room to be made up. We also asked for clean glasses and shampoo. The staff person brought paper cups and shower gel, and said the hotel had no shampoo. The next day of our stay, nobody made up our room. We called the manager again. She brought us shampoo, glasses and a foam pillow for my husband. Nobody EVER came to clean our room. This is not acceptable, especially at the Marriott, where we paid a premium price. The manager blamed COVID for all her woes.
