Quite a breathtaking view on the railroad bridge not for anyone who have fear on heights. Did hear a growl in the woods?

NOTICE: THE ENTIRE RAILROAD IS NOW CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. When I hiked the tracks about five years ago, it was still legal. Now, you could get fined for trespassing. The railroad, which used to connect Banks to Tillamook saw its last train in 2007 before a flood that December washed out sections in the Salmonberry Canyon. Since then, there has been little to no maintenance on the huge trestles and tunnels. After 13 years, these structures are no doubt starting to show signs of weakening and deterioration. It's best NOT to hike in this area anymore.

Growing up in Tillamook, I'd heard of the trestles but had never visited. It was really cool. Certainly high up, not for those with height issues.

Really hard to find your way up, but when you do. It's worth it. You can find it by going through the tillamook national forest. The railroad goes over the top of a creek and is very hard to spot in the tree line. But you'll see it. Heading west, you'll see roads shooting off after the creek, take the second one. Park in the little circle area and try to spot the trail of other explorers like yourself. Eventually you'll find your way up the steep hill onto the bridge. It is blissfully and the bridge is stable and secure. Enjoy!
