This place is HORRIBLE. NO HELP AT ALL.

The staff never ever ever answers the phone. No matter what number you call, no matter if you call during business hours nobody ever answers. My son was enrolled into IOPT and had 3 hour sessions twice a week (plus one during Saturday). I had been instructed that my son needed weekly drug tests. What a nightmare!!! The Drug testing places we were provided as an option were not open during the advertised times and days. The staff were horrible and did not know their jobs (always asking someone else what to do). After attempting testing for my son about 6 times and not able to because of one excuse after another I was provided the options to either go to Quest Diagnostics or bring to Phoenix house. Quest Diagnostics was no better than the others. The last test got mixed up??? This test was suppose to lower my son's weekly sessions down to 1 per week but because of their mix up he continues to do these weekly session twice a week. And last time I went, I called to confirm their would be a male observer available. When we arrived they told me that he (observer) went to lunch. After we waited 45 mins and filled in all of the paperwork they told us that Phoenix House provided the wrong document for drug testing. And we were turned away. This is not all of the inconveniences this has caused me and my other son. I am a single father of two teen-aged boys and work a full time job. I have wasted too much time and money on this program. All the sessions were online. My son never missed a session (the only teen that did so). My son took the program seriously but all of the other teens on Zoom did not. They missed sessions, talked out of turn, were playing video games and messing with their cell phones the whole time the session was live. And the counselor had no control over it. The family session (conference call) we had went well but we only had one. We were told this would be a session every 2 weeks. Well it has been at least 2 months since we had our one session. I am taking my son out of this program. Although he did learn tools about how to deal with temptation and triggers and met other kids (heard their stories) overall this program was a waste of time and money. I would not suggest this program to anyone.

I arrived to Phoenix house in November 2017, and I spent Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years there. For every holiday they make sure to celebrate it normally, with lots of food and even presents! I left the day of my 17th birthday. Before coming to Phoenix house I was a very troubled teenager using a handful of drugs weekly, sometimes daily. When I arrived I told my counselor Susanna I can’t see myself getting any better and that I don’t want to get better. I went along with the program and all of the sudden I felt happier, more confident, less withdrawals, and I finally found myself! It’s interesting how much you change while being in treatment little by little every day, and you hardly notice it. When you get to the middle of treatment it’s so much easier, you have a routine, you’ve established friendships and relationships with the staff, you’ve learned about yourself, and by then you’ve probably accomplished a handful of goals. Of course you’re going to have hard days in here, it’s not possible to have a great day every day, but my motto I learned while here was, “it’s a bad moment, not a bad day.” I have now been back to Phoenix house a handful of times to talk to the girls and revisit with the staff. The facility has been renovated and looks amazing now, that I’m almost jealous! I have continued my sobriety and I’m now studying to be a ER nurse at Stephen F Austin. Although it’s been 3 years since I was admitted, I’m so happy to have changed my course in life and without Phoenix house I absolutely would not be who I am today. If you’re looking for addiction treatment program, this is definitely where you want to be.
