The surgery was phenomenal, in that I had no pain whatsoever after surgery. I am 2 1/2 months in and am walking, riding my bike and continuing my exercises in the gym. As promised, I did not have any physical therapy. Just the exercises given me by the doctor. It remains to be seen how the full recovery will be. But so far, pretty good.

The NanoKnee Institute was recommended to me by a friend. About 15 years ago, I was diagnosed with a severe case of osteoarthritis in both my knees, but I was reluctant to get knee replacement surgery. I had read and heard about the lengthy and painful recovery process and was not ready endure the procedure. However, as time went on, my daily quality of life was compromised by the intense pain and activity limitations. Basic walking, doing yard work or going up and down stairs was extremely painful. My back was also suffering due to my legs bowing out and the unavoidable limping. In the summer of 2020, I decided to take my life back and started the process for Dr. Ferro's revolutionary minimally invasive knee surgery. I had knee replacement surgery on my right knee in October 2020 and I wish I had done it sooner. Right after the surgery I was able to walk. No hospital stay and the recovery was not extremely painful nor lengthy. At the beginning it was bit painful with stiffness and swelling. However, enduring a little pain was worth it in order to achieve awesome results. I can now bend my knee, bike for an hour, climb a ladder, walk up and down a hill, and go for long walks pain-free. Life is good again! I am scheduled to do my left knee in March 2021. I highly recommended Dr. Ferro. He and his staff are great.

I can't say enough about my new Nanoknee, Dr. Ferro and his staff. I had my surgery done in the Torrance office. Originally this sounded too good to be true. No pain after having a full knee replacement? No physical therapy only exercises on my own? Able to walk normally right away? No brace? No walker? no cane? It all happened just that way. My co-workers were in awe that I only stayed low at home for the first week to heal a bit then I was right back to work walking normally and without pain! (except in my other knee that needs to also be done). I had to show my co-workers the incision on my knee because they didn't believe that I had a full knee replacement. I'm going to try very hard to get on Dr. Ferro's calendar to do my other knee so I can be completely out of pain and arthritis in both knees. If you need a knee replacement you're nuts if you go to a surgeon who still does it "the old way". Oh, and I should mention that the post surgery care was tremendous also. His office was VERY responsive to my post-op questions. Suzanne LaRusch :)

Dr Ferro and his team are outstanding! My arthritis pain was gone immediately, as was my valgus knee. Moreover, there really wasn't much surgical pain at all. I was walking without a walker or crutch within a couple of days. I can now do a number of things pain free now that wasn't possible before such as hiking, and biking. Definitely a significant improvement to my quality of life One of the best things about the process was the team's customer service and "bedside manner." Without a doubt, it is some of the best customer service I've ever received from a doctor/surgeon. Dr Ferro and his staff were quick to answer all my questions throughout my recovery. I felt like all them really treated me like a person....rather than just another operation

30000-40000, yes you read that correctly. The $7500 is out of pocket. They tell you insurance won't cover it which isn't true. You sign a waiver saying insurance can't be billed. Where do you think that money is going? Stay far away! Find a doctor that does the Conformis.
80 is not too old as long as there aren't additional risk factors that would make the procedure too much of a risk to the patient.
Thank you for the question, Sophie! This is not something that we typically do. We like to give patients at least 3 months between knee replacements. That being said, there have been exceptions and we have done bilateral knee replacements with success in the past. It's just something that is only done in unique instances.
Hi Susan, thanks for your question! We do not accept the VA, unfortunately... If Medicare was your primary insurance and you had a PPO secondary, that would be a plan we would take.
Hi Sophie. That is largely dependent on how physically demanding your job is. It also is dependent on how you get to work. If the left knee is operated on, patients can usually begin driving after about 2 weeks. If it's the right knee then we recommend waiting 3-4 weeks before driving. So I would say you should expect to be out of work for at least 2 weeks, potentially up to 4 weeks. Hope this helps!
Hi there, thank you for the question! We would be able to accept the Medicare which would cover 80% of the procedure. You would be responsible for the remaining 20% unless you switch to a PPO secondary and then that should cover the remaining 20%. Hope this helps!
Hi Brad, thank you for your questions. So we do not accept the VA for insurance. Currently, there is no contract or partnership between the VA and Nanoknee. Therefore the out of pocket cost would be $27,500 per knee.
Thank you for the question. Unfortunately we do not work with the VA for payments. We would need to review your x-rays with your doctor to determine the best treatment plan for you. If you were in need of a knee replacement then you would either need to switch to a PPO primary or proceed with the cash price of $27,500 for that procedure.
Hi Debra. Thank you for the question. Unfortunately, we do not take worker's comp cases. Once the case is closed we could evaluate your coverage and see if we could accept you as a patient.
Thank you for the question, Kathleen! We are knee replacement specialists. Our procedure is one of the best out there for rapid recovery, minimal pain, and getting you back to a healthy, active lifestyle quickly.
Great question, Linda. You can schedule a consultation appointment directly through us. Just give us a call and we can help get you scheduled right there on the phone.
Hi David. We do accept Medicare. If you have a supplemental PPO plan that will kick in to help cover the costs as well. If you would like to schedule a consultation with one of our doctors call us and we will be happy to help. (877) 327-6266
Hi Lora. The Femoral Component fits on the end of the thigh bone and is a cobalt chromium alloy material. For patients with metal allergies we offer a titanium nitride coated component. The Tibial Insert Component placed between the two metal implants is a highly crosslinked, Vitamin E infused polyethylene. The Vitamin E reduces wear and oxidation of the polyethylene bearing surface to meet the long-term performance needs of highly active patients. The Tibial Tray Component which sits on top of the shin bone is a titanium alloy material. The estimated longevity of the implant is 25-35 years. Testing has indicated that it is likely the implant may sustain even longer than projected. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions feel free to give us a call or check out our website!
Thank you for your interest in NanoKnee! Based upon this limited information, it sounds like you may still be a candidate for NanoKnee, with some adjustments to accommodate your lack of ACL. We recommend you follow up with Dr. Ferro for a consultation so that we can review your x-rays and other imaging in order to make official recommendations. Give us a call and we can work on setting up your consultation.
Hi Linda. Thank you for the question. If the plan is a PPO then we would be able to accept this coverage. However, if it's an HMO then we would not be able to.
Hi Jack. Thanks for the question. If Medicare is you primary and you have a secondary PPO plan, then your out of pocket would only include the $7,500 for the 3D blueprinting we do prior to the procedure. This is what differentiates us from traditional knee replacements and is why our patients have higher satisfaction, higher success rates, and faster recoveries.
Hi there, thank you for the question! We can absolutely take patients from other countries. You would be looking at the cash price of $27,500 for the procedure.
The cost for out of country patients generally is the cash price of the procedure. $27,500. It's very rare that we would be able to accept any out of network benefits, however, it still doesn't hurt to check!
I'm not nanoknee but I had it done. The $7500 is out of pocket and your insurance is billed for additional costs leading up to around $30000 or more. My insurance said they would have paid the$7500 but you sign a waiver stating that your insurance can't be billed. They tell you that your insurance won't cover the $7500. Lies. Sure you are in and out the same day. I questioned the specialized knee joint. It comes out of a box like all other joint replacement pieces. It's made by Modal. I asked what the bioengineers did and after they get the CT they help the doctor pick the right combination for your knee. So this begs the question, why does an orthopedic doctor with 30 years of experience in joint replacement require $7500 on top of what your insurance will be billed and any co-payment or percentage you owe, need 6 bioengineers to help him pick the right combination of joints? You do not get a prescription for PT after surgery. Instead they give you access to an app. Don't do it!
