I am so glad I found dr. Bierrenbach again. I used to go to him when he practiced in Hendersonville and he knew exactly what I needed then and now. He is a wonderful doctor and I am so glad he is my therapist.

Overall, he talked the vast majority of the time and barely let me describe my symptoms or how I have been doing. He didn't refill the medications that I am on and need refilled, but prescribed me medications that I did not ask for. Below is a more detailed account of my experience, although there is a lot I have not included in order to not make this review too long. The first red flag was when I sat down in his chair and he was reading the intake information that I wrote down. He looked up at me with a confused look and said in an incredulous tone, "bipolar?" as if by looking at me and with barely a sentence exchanged between the two of us he could judge that I don't have the diagnosis that I wrote down and that I've been treated for by past psychiatrists. That felt very invalidating and unprofessional. He also knew that I have an eating disorder. For some reason, he decided to weigh me (I've never been weighed by past psychiatrists). I told him I didn't want to know my weight and he responded very coldly "then don't look." Then he told me my BMI, which is basically telling me my weight. He didn't ask if I was ok with hearing what my BMI was. Then he told me to pull down my mask and to show him my wrists and ankles so he could give me a description of the kind of body frame I had. Again, this was completely uncalled for. There was no reason to give me this information, especially knowing I have an eating disorder. I was barely able to describe my symptoms because he wouldn't ask or if he did he would immediately cut me off. I mentioned once "I have trouble sleeping," and he didn't ask if there were any other issues that could be contributing to my trouble sleeping. He just decided to prescribe me valium, and he didn't even talk to me about when to use it, how often, and that it is highly addictive. I told him I have a couple weeks left of the two medications I am currently taking, so instead of refilling them for me he told me to come back in two weeks. Afterwards I received a bill for over $300 for that one session, where he charged me for an initial psychiatric evaluation and additionally for psychotherapy. I don't know at what point he felt like he was providing me psychotherapy, because I was barely allowed to speak, and the whole time I was just crying from how uncomfortable he was making me. Also, if he let me talk at all, he would have known that I am already in therapy once a week. I didn't ask for a psychotherapy session, and I feel scammed for being charged for it. Needless to say I am not going back.

I made my appointment with Bierrenbach almost two months ago. I received an email declaring my financial responsibility for my first appointment would be $74. I arrive to my appointment and the receptionist tells me their insurance person was wrong and my first appointment would be over $350. Obviously I canceled my appointment and missed a day of work for nothing. Any provider that charges $350 for a therapy session does not actually care about mental health and is only concerned about making a profit.

I was treated by Dr B for 15 years. I stopped seeing him because he can't handle the big problems. So, beware of this. He will act as if he doesn't know you. All depressed and anxious house wife's GO FOR IT.

We had worked with Polly with our daughter for many years. I have misplaced her contact information and forgot her last name. I would like to refer a friend to her. Would you be able to provide that for me?
