We loved our visit to Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park! We spent several hours here and never made it through the whole thing. 100% recommend making a trip here!! This place is breathtakingly beautiful! Two reasons for the 4/5 starts instead of 5/5. First, bathrooms were closed and no facilities were available for 30 miles. It was a 60 degree day, so it wasn't weather related. Second, we had scheduled a tour for our time here. The tour was cancelled the afternoon before because of bad weather prediction, but it was a 60 degree day and no bad weather. Sad we missed this experience.

This place is great for a nature visit. 2 trail options long and short. A clean public restroom and plenty of parking space. The grasses can be kinda high along some of the trails and plenty of small-large grasshoppers. The permit required is a self-pay, acquired on site at the entrance - $5. I posted outlooks of the short trail.

A gentle trail leads to wonderful views, with informative signs along the way! $5 entry fee per vehicle (self-pay, so bring cash or check). A clean bathroom is available on site. Dogs are allowed on-leash. Note: only guided tours are allowed off the trails to protect the fragile landscape. See website to arrange a guided tour.

If you've ever been to Monument Rocks, just 15 miles away, this place is like that on steroids. This place is like the early stages of Monument Rocks and is still more canyon-like, whereas Monument Rocks is in the later stages and is more like, well, monuments sticking out of the plains. I've seen videos and even pictures here showing views that were obviously taken down in the bottom of the "canyon" among the rocks. I'm not sure how those were taken. When I visited in September, 2021, there were many signs saying to stay on the designated trails, which means you stay on top of the rim. These pictures I'm talking about were obviously not from the designated trails. Maybe that's a recent change and those pictures were taken in the past, before the restriction? I don't know. It would be nice if they would develop some trails that do go down in among the rocks.

No camping as of late 2021.
Currently there are no riding trails designated for Little Jerusalem State Park. When I visited the area we did see people on horses at Monument Rocks which is only about 15-20 minutes east of Little Jerusalem. I am not sure if that is allowed or not but could be something to look into.
If the parking lot is not full, you should have room to maneuver and park in the parking lot. If it is somewhat full, you may want to stop just outside the gate on the dirt road that leads to the entrance.
It's a pretty open place, I would doubt there is a hard limit.
I would plan on being there between 45 minutes and an hour to walk the trails and take in the scenery
I would say no due to them being covered in rocks. Would be very difficult.
Yes, must be on leash 😊
I agree with Kelley. Try Monument Rocks right around the corner for more access. Use the restroom facilities at Little Jerusalem, though.
It might depend on the location. Little Jerusalem is! Try and find a phone number and call before visiting
