Gothic revival church dating to 1787. Featuring stained glass windows and a fan ceiling. The Unitarian Church in Charleston, home to a Unitarian Universalist congregation, is an historic church located at 4 Archdale Street in Charleston, South Carolina. It is the oldest Unitarian church in the South and the second oldest church building on the peninsula of Charleston.

Church is beautiful inside and the Docents were very sweet and explained everything about the church and its history. The graveyard attached is also beautiful to walk through very peaceful area, only tough part is parking, you may have to walk a little but worth it.

Questions & Answers

I have an ancestor named John Holland, he was a carpenter who died Jan 30th 1834, and who is said to have been buried there. Do you have records of all who are buried there and do you ever look these up for folks doing genealogy?

I believe I found your ancestors grave. The surname could be spelled differently "Holand" but the grave is really worn and it could be him. He is located behind the church outside, straight ahead towards the burning bowl area. He's on your left on in a ground level grave with a small stone wall around him. His grave has several bolts holding it down. When I can figure out how to post a picture here I'll send you a picture of his grave.

Omg, so much there. Bulldog tours is the best tour company. Take the old jail tour of it's still offered because they are turning it into offices. Go to Folly Beach by 9am because by 11, the road to the beach is backed up for miles and parking is hard to find. Walk around downtown a few times because there are always things you will miss. Take your tours your first nights there so you get ideas of places to go. There is a tour guide which is very helpful. Oh, and for the beach, remember that the sun is hotter there because of how close you are to the equator. Bring a beach umbrella or two because you will need them. Bring lots of water or gatorade and anything else you would need for a day out with no stores around. But Walmart has beach umbrellas and blankets for cheap even if you have to leave them behind. The water is super warm. You are going to love it. But look up bulldog tours and go from there. You can sign up online. As for the church Google or call
