It's taken me forever to find a practice that doesn't have a super long wait time for my medication management and finally found this office. My psychiatrist that I was using closed his office and I didn't realize how hard it was to find someone new! Thankfully, after my first session I got my prescription refilled without any hiccups, and I feel relieved to have become a patient here. Nice office staff with friendly and knowledgeable providers. Can't ask for more than that.

I've been at Empire Psychiatry for my ADHD a long time now and I like the fact the staff listens to you instead of rushing you out just to get the insurance payment. They have a few office you can call and getting set up for an appointment usually takes a few minutes, and they'll make sure to take care of you. They're flexible with most insurance and the receptionist is super helpful and willing to assist you get it set up (just make its within their network)

Jody Reyes | Sep 6, 2022
Empire Psychiatry | Sep 6, 2022

Hi Jody, Psychiatry and medication management are one of many treatment options for optimal mental health. Good nutrition, exercise, social support, and therapy all play roles as well. Psychiatric intervention through medications can be very effective, but it's important to adopt a holistic view for achieving mental health stability.

Hello, my child has been manifesting some symptoms of ADHD, and I'm not sure what to do. How would I say that he displays ADHD? Do we need to visit you?

Carolyn Jensen | Sep 6, 2022
Empire Psychiatry | Sep 6, 2022

The first step is for your child to have an evaluation to make sure he/she is exhibiting symptoms of adhd and not simply general hyperactivity or simply boredom. It's important to receive an accurate diagnosis as that will guide future decisions for your child's well being. We treat adolescents 13 years of age and above.

Hello there Empire Psychiatry, I want to know if the symptoms of panic attack need special treatment? I've been having some strange symptoms recently, and I am not sure what they mean. Do you have any suggestions?

Rebekah Mills | Sep 6, 2022
Empire Psychiatry | Sep 6, 2022

Hi Rebekah, panic attacks can feel extremely uncomfortable and disorienting to a person who experiences them. Many individuals will have a panic attack at some point in their life, but if panic attacks are occurring on a daily or weekly basis then treatment with medications and cognitive behavior therapy will help. It is worthwhile going to your doctor's office to be evaluated to rule out any possible medical etiology or condition that is causing you these symtoms.

Hi, is it common to receive both theraphy and medication? i don't want to overdo it with different treatments but I also want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to stay healthy. Thank you for your time.

Hi Sophie, yes it is very common to receive both therapy and medications. They work synergistically together and often produce a more robust recovery if used in the right way for the right individual. Hope that helps!

Empire Psychiatry, hello! I was wondering if you could help me understand what might be causing my anxiety disorder. Do you have any thoughts on what might be causing it? Thank you so much for your help!

Whitney Benson | Aug 7, 2022
Empire Psychiatry | Aug 7, 2022

Hi Whitney, Anxiety is a normal part of life and is not considered a disorder until it begins to hinder or disrupt daily life activities to a significant extent. An anxiety disorder is typically diagnosed when anxiety is pervasive and not necessarily tied to a triggering event. Anxiety manifests and may be caused by multiple triggers for each individual. Exercise, good nutrition, a support network, and medications are all worthwhile interventions to help you get back on track.
