I just got my car inspected there this morning.

The process is the same for expired I'd and non expired I'd. You have to be there early and have patience, they take the first 200 hundred people, they give you tickets and then they will call you or text when they are ready for you. I was there at 5:40 in the morning, doors opened exactly at 8:00 given my ticket and information. I left because I didn't want to stand around in the parking lot. I was texted to come back at 12:00 I was done with everything about 1:30 pm. I feel that the process wasn't that bad but come prepared to wait, there is a diner across the street, bring a chair, coat or jacket,you will meet interesting people to talk with, if doing car inspection it's quicker. All in all its not a bad experience.

Sorry, I am not sure that they will consider a permit from a different state. I'm guessing that they will not. You will most likely be expected to start over. You can run it by the clerk at the counter. If they can retrieve your info from the system online and issue you a NJ permit based on the info there that would be nice but I can't imagine anyone reaching out that way, especially if its not an option from DMV.

It's best to review your reasoning to go to any DMV because there are many concerns that can be conducted or performed online as someone stated before. If you are showing proof or evidence because your changing certain materials, then, prepare to be there for a while. In Newark, they have 2 mobile units outside the agency that is also assisting with needs too. My advice to anyone, please go online and see if you can conduct business that way. You have to do it in person. Make sure to go to a DMV licensing center, not a DMV vehicle center. Arrive as early as 4am or 5am. Put a chair in the line behind the last person before you park your car. Park close enough to access your car and stay in the car to avoid cold temperatures. The line won't move until 7:55 to 8am. So know what the person in front of you look like to avoid someone moving your chair or skipping the line. Be standing in line by 7:45am and wear your mask. Pay attention to all instructions given the moment the door opens at 8am. Good luck.
