We did the Tabacco Trail, and we went using all trails as Wildcat Creek Loop Trail, it was Memorial weekend a lot of camper (very friendly) and a few dogs. We spend 4hrs through the forest, hiking and enjoying the view and waterfall. The road to get to the camp area is rusty.

I went camping on a cold winters day and I was the only person at the campground. The vegetation is sparse between camp sites so you can easily see the other campers around. A mysterious truck came through the camp site around 2 am. There are hiking trails that run along the beautiful stream. You can easily hike all day if you go down all the various hiking trails. Multiple walking bridges cross the stream. The dirt road was a little rough, but manageable.

A spooky place to camp. There are many waterfalls in the area to see. The camping area is next to a creek and at the bottom of a hill. You can park at most of the sites and they have tables. Some of the camping sites are across a bridge. A long way away, uphill, is the monument road parking area. If ya want to hike to see the waterfalls it's best to start at the campground and then head uphill versus starting at monument road parking and going downhill. There are 3 or 4 waterfalls in the area, 3 along the road and one out this side trail. You will need a lands pass, fishing license or hunting license to be out here. The DNR website can sell you the license or go by a sporting goods store and buy one of them. It's easier to use online website for purchase. There is no kiosk to buy license at campground. Good place to go for a long hike. At the bottom of the hill is a footbridge that crosses the creek, this can be followed to a loop trail. Take a right at the next footbridge to return to parking area. Another footbridge is located passed the last camping site out in the woods. I don't remember if a sign is out there, just follow the path until ya see it. It will lead to an old road that goes by the waterfalls.

Great spot for hiking or camping. Parts of the trail run beside amicalola and wildcat Creeks. The access road is a bit rough but I could make it in my sedan. This is a fee area so you need either a hunting license fishing license or a Georgia Lands pass.

Google says the address is in Dawsonville, the website says Clarksville. Can anyone tell us where it actually is?

Following the GPS led to the Big Canoe development in Dawson county. The person working the gate directed us further down the road, where we saw signs for Wildcat Creek. There is a hilly gravel path that leads directly to the campsites, so be sure to take a vehicle suitable for mud and hills.

The GA Dept of Nat. Resources says the road is impassible without 4 wheel drive. I have gone down that road 3x in a Toyota Prius, in the past. Has anyone gone recently (within last 2 months)? Could you tell me how the road down is?

If you're going down in a Prius, you can probably do it, just be extremely careful. I went down it in a Subaru Crosstrek a few weeks ago and didn't have any issues but I can think of a few potholes that could be hard in a Prius.

Is the campground open. I went there a few weeks ago and the road to the campground was closed.

Camped there this past weekend... it's open. I don't know why the road would have been closed unless they closed it while they re-built the bridge that washed out.

Does each person camping have to have a fishing/hunting license or land's pass, or will my license cover everyone with me?

Every single person needs a fishing/hunting license. Found out from the Game Warden this weekend while camping there.

If you have fishing license it's free to camp?
