Had a great experience for a first time visit. More kid oriented activities but a fun place to view a beautiful cavern and attend activities. There was mini golf, water balloon fights, basketball, archery, a maze, etc. There was also an area called the gemstone mining. They had a little giftshop where you can buy food, goods and candy. The caverns had a walk around tour and a light show at the end.

We found this cave by stopping at the Welcome Center or as we named them Adventure Centers. This tour was simply amazing! The whole park has a lot of different things to do while you wait for your tour time. The cave is very well lit and there are handrails all the way through. The Lazer show at the end is spectacular!

Really love this fun fill cave/park. You are really getting more than you expect with the different things kids can do great day trip with the kids. Also it's a great cave with good history and amazing views. Worth the trip for sure

Great visit here today. We really enjoyed the cavern tour. Great new lazer show during the tour. The group was a little big in our opinion but the guide did well managing it. I think a smaller group would have made for a much better time. But it is a great time if your in the area.

You will have a blast. The cave is amazing and the maze is fun.
Yes they also will offer a family picture they take. Mine turned out excellent.
Kids 3 and under are free.
the cave not storm shelter safe and there is no storm shelter
They do. It may be different with COVID and all but normally they are open longer in the summer.
I'm sure it would be but not really sure.
I Don't see why not
It's not a long walk but is pretty interesting and enjoyable. There is also a short laser light show after the tour.
Yes
I would say so, especially for the cave. Cave is always rather cool, and there is plenty of shade around the rest of the park. Just remember to bring plenty of water!
Yes I took mine with a cell phone. They came out good
not really, all activities are outdoors and when you do the cave i recommend no stroller and sneakers. due to some stip slopes, narrow ways and being a little slippery in some spots.
Yes ma'am you get to pan for gemstone look a like me and my son really enjoyed it. It's lot's of fun
Both options work. I usually buy at the gate since they can help me figure out how many tickets I need for the cave and also for the attractions.
Next week Friday will be very busy with school field trips
Yes, during the tour they mention that they change the laser light show for Christmas & other winter holidays.
Great question Elizabeth! Yes, your tickets are good for 60 days from the date you purchased them for. And if you purchased tickets for a specific event and weren't able to make it for that day, such as our homeschool day event or a Christmas event, your tickets are either good for a future event of the same value or for the price you paid for them in redemption for a different ticket, if you like. We know people's plans change, so we try to accommodate our awesome guests with options for adventures.
They have a playlist with many songs on it. But several of them are by a composer named John Philip Sousa.
29.99 for the cave tickets for the wrist band to ride the rides is 50 I believe
Great question! Yes, dogs are allowed in the park as long as they remain on a leash. Inside the cave we only allow pets if you are capable of holding them throughout the tour. Because of the nature of a cave and it's formations, acid is very corrosive to the environment and in order to preserve the caverns, we cannot have any animals using the restroom or marking their territory inside the caverns. This is why we ask that if anyone brings animals into the cave, they be capable of holding the pet through the entirety of the tour. We do have tickets available that do not include the caverns if this isn't possible. People who bring their pets are responsible for cleaning up their pet's waste. People with pets also will be held responsible for any damage their pet creates. We hope this helps you with planning your adventure and please let us know if you have any additional questions, we're happy to help!
Yes, they give you little bags to put your "treasures" in.
Hi! We're happy to help you with your question! We have a range of available options for our guests depending on what kind of adventure you are looking for. We have cave tour only passes, and we have cave tour plus our above-ground attraction options. Prices range from $19.99 to $34.99 depending on what adventure you choose. Here is a link to our pricing information. Let us know if you have any additional questions, we're happy to help! https://www.desotocavernspark.com/tickets
24 for kids 34 for adults with adventure package. Best choice. Open on Saturday
The tour is 1/3 of a mile, the highlight of the tour being the cavern main room which is surface area larger than a football field and with a ceiling height 12 stories high there's natural rock formations of all types that are well-lit and a laser light show just cause I don't know why it said it's fun to watch though as the light patterns AR projected through a waterfall and a story of creation is told by a narrator. Further exploration to the southwestern corner leads about 300 ft to a pool of water. It is not known if an underground exit through the Waterway exists at this time so I doubt it highly considering it's 2019 and somebody with a scuba suit would have bound to go look by now it's still a fun day in summer or winter since inside it's a nice 60 degree temperature year round
Hi Jeanette, Thank you for asking this important question. We have a small number of bats in our cave and because bats are fairly shy creatures our guests rarely see them. We are actively a part of the National Cave Association and support bat preservation efforts. This includes not compromising their immune systems or interfering with their habitats which can happen when there is contact with guests. If you were to see a bat during a visit at our Caverns, which would be a rare sighting, we would not allow touching the bat but we would encourage you to enjoy the special moment. Our leadership team also has attended bat education classes that have included getting to study rehabilitated or injured bats up close and contrary to popular belief, they can be very friendly animals. We're happy that your question brought up a great discussion regarding this often misunderstood species, thank you for asking! :)
As long as they are on a lease
Thank you for reaching out. We do not offer senior discounts although we do offer both military and local Talladega discounts. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out, we're happy to help.
Hi, Artavious, great question. We have had numerous children with autism along with autistic groups come through the caverns without issues. The only thing they may have an issue with is the laser and water show. It does have flashing lights and music, but we have had children with autism do well with it in the past. If your family needs to leave the caverns at any time, we will be able to do that as well. It is important to inform your guide before your tour into the caverns of any special needs and your guide will give help you with whatever choice you believe is best for your family. We hope this helps and if you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Hi! We're happy to help with questions. This weekend we will have Christmas light show during our regular business hours and during our Christmas at the Cave event we will not be doing our regular tours and light show as we will be hosting a show in the caverns featuring the nationally known Tinseltone Quartet! This special event will have characters in the park and classic Christmas movies playing along with many more festivities. The event has the following discounts for members: *Discounts are available for members at the gate, show your ID in order to validate you are a member holder. *Platinum Members receive 15% off of their entire event ticket purchase at gate, even if they are purchasing tickets for family members that are non-members. *Timeless Tour Annual Pass Holders and Annual Attraction Pass Members will receive 5% off event ticket purchase at gate, but only one discount is allowed/member. Also, as a special Pass holder, we will also be giving 10% off lattes.
Hi, thank you for asking. Touching the formations is not allowed because our caverns is living. This means that our caverns are still growing and the oils in your hands stunt the growth of the formations as the oil keeps the doing water from collecting minerals. We care about the preservation of our caverns as a World Heritage Site and our guests honoring these rules allows future generations to enjoy it as well. Thank you for asking, and we hope this answer both clarifies our rules and their purpose.
It is.
Yes
He want be able to go up some of the back caverns but he can stay on the bottom an see alot. It's beautiful inside. There is a light show after the tour. Dog friendly I'm not sure but it's certainly big enough. I don't see a problem why not. But I would call I . Hope u enjoy the caverns.

I don't believe so. You should call them.
Yes they have awesome fudge. They have sandwiches chips drinks and other snacks.
Your confirmation, is all that needed
Desoto Caverns does have group rates. I would suggest calling the caverns directly to inquire about pricing specifics.
Around 22 per person. The cave is cool and there are things for kids
The fee includes access to the grounds as well as the cavern tour. There is also a family amusement area with a lot of additional games, rides, etc for an additional cost. It seems pricey but I believe well worth the cost. My family really enjoyed our time at Desoto Caverns. I believe the park and all of the attractions should be open by April. I would call to verify before you visit.
Yes
Yes they have a gorgeous laser light display during the cavern tour too! Be sure you dress warmly/check the weather if you aren't from the area!
They have cars that kids can drive around. But they do not have bumper cars.
There are tables near the entrance where you can eat. You also could sit near the parking area on a blanket.
$22.99 for adults, $17.99 for kids (ages 4-11), and 3-under are free.
